Job Description:
Performs critical database monitoring and incident problem
management functions for the production database operation which runs on
Universal Database (UDB) and DB2. Provides operational support for
Production, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Test Environment. Leads the
development of architectural proposals, defines standards and operational
“best practices,” and collaborates on decisions regarding the
strategic direction of technology management in the database space. Manages complex
project assignments and represents the Database Engineering and Support
(DBES) team in all dialogue and decisions regarding the deployment and
management of database environments. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics,
Physics or a related field (or equivalent foreign education) and 5 years of
experience as a DB2 UDB Database Administrator performing development,
administration, implementation, and support for DB2 UDB databases in both
production and non-production environments. OR, IN THE ALTERNATIVE, a Master’s
degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related
field (or equivalent foreign education) and 3 years of experience as a DB2
UDB Database Administrator performing development,
administration, implementation, and support for DB2 UDB databases in both
production and non-production environments. Also requires: 1) Demonstrated expertise applying Siebel application
architecture and Enterprise Information Management (EIM) processes; 2) Demonstrated expertise installing and configuring DB2 UDB
databases on AIX, Linux, Unix and Windows using AIX and Linux shell scripting
as well as data modeling tools such as Erwin, Enterprise Architect, Toad
Data Modeler, or ER/Studio; 3) Demonstrated expertise monitoring, troubleshooting, capacity
planning, and incident/problem management of large production databases
and developing shell scripts; 4) Demonstrated expertise conducting performance tuning and SQL
tuning for complex application issues using one or more of the following:
DBArtisan, Quest Foglight, BMC Patrol, Quest SQL Optimizer, IBM Data
