Job Description:
Participates in the design, development, and characterization of
MOCVD component, sub-system, and full system designs. Maintains
operational readiness of laboratory equipment, metrology, utilities, and
consumables and establishes necessary procedures. Interfaces with Sales and
customers to elicit demonstration requirements, and translates them into a
documented demonstration plan. Leads customer demonstrations, rapid start
programs, and Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) evaluations. Develops and
validates process improvements in the laboratory for customer-specific
issues. Supports the transfer of new technology into the field and
participates in joint development activities with customers. Assists customers
with process transfers following upgrades. Provides technical advice to teach
customers how to optimize equipment. Identifies procedural improvements to
reduce material demonstration runs. Establishes root cause analysis
methods and troubleshooting guides. Processes training and deployment of
“best practices” in the field. Assists in customer-specific process
recipe customizations. Provides technical support for escalations
beyond the expertise of regional Application Engineers. Provides process
support for reliability qualification and evaluation. Requirements: Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Materials Engineering,
Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or related field (willing to accept
foreign education equivalent) plus 2 years of experience as a Thin Films
Process Engineer in an opto-electronics or semiconductor environment or
2 years of experience as a Thin Films Process Engineer at an equipment
manufacturer of thin film processing systems. Or in the alternative, a Master's
degree and 5 years of experience as stated above. Also requires: 1)Demonstrated expertise operating and
maintaining one or more MOCVD systems to evaluate advanced hardware; 2)
Demonstrated expertise operating and maintaining high-vacuum equipment, including
MOCVD, Ion Beam Deposition/Etching (IBD/IBE), and Physical Vapor Deposition
(PVD); 3) Demonstrated expertise performing material analysis using
X-ray, Photoluminescence, Hall measurement, Optical microscope, Atomic
Force Microscope and their related instrumentation setup; and, 4)
Demonstrated expertise performing data analysis using LabView or similar
