Job Description:
As part of a team, participates in new product development and
product improvement for complex wafer processing equipment involving ion
beam etch and deposition of thin films as well as chemical and
physical vapor deposition technologies used in the manufacturing of
high-tech components (including computer hard drives). Involved in system
design, motion and robotics design, vacuum vessel design, and heat
transfer. Develops full-scale projects, from specification definition to
full implementation. Works in a fast-paced industrial environment
with a high-level of technological complexity. Provides high-level
expertise in a wide variety of mechanical engineering areas, while focusing
on design quality, effective cost, and ease of manufacturing. Defines
design specifications based on customer requirements and company
capabilities. Provides best design concepts by monitoring concept and design
review meetings. Conducts analysis to determine the root cause of
potential product failures. Performs analytical studies requiring a
variety of engineering knowledge, including analysis of heat transfer,
structural analysis, static and dynamics, fluidics, of vacuum vessels.
Supports procurement efforts in correlation with overall project
deadlines. Provides hands-on assistance and support to manufacturing.
Prepares presentations for internal and external customers. Develops test
plans and experiment designs (DOE) and is involved in prototype
development followed by reliability testing. Educatioin & Experiece Requirements: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
(willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 5 years of
experience performing reliability experiments. Or, alternatively, a
Master's degree and 3 years of experience as stated above. Also requires: (1) Demonstrated expertise performing 3D modeling
using SolidWorks; (2) Demonstrated expertise performing finite
element analysis (FEA) simulations (using SolidWorks or ANSYS) to
estimate stresses and the deflections occurring during process
variations; (3) Demonstrated expertise designing experiments for
performance improvement; and, (4) Demonstrated experience working under
