Job Description:
Implement new coverage and capacity improvements to company’s
radio network. Support wireless networks and develop and shape
emerging “carrier-grade” Wi-Fi technologies and processes. Work with
Product Deployment, Government Affairs, and Construction teams to design
Wi-Fi- based solutions for a range of target locations, including
outdoor networks, indoor small business, parks, transit, municipalities,
and large venues. Develop small cell propagation models, radio configurations, traffic models, and population analysis to
support various Wi-Fi network deployments. Work with Wireless Technology
team to target and implement network performance and optimization
programs. Lead radio design effort to ensure coverage and capacity adheres to
company standards and addresses customer needs. Perform Radio Frequency
(RF) data collection, propagation model tuning, link budget analyses,
and various mapping and geo-analyses based on the assets’ location
in the network. Update radio requirements to support optimization
efforts such as reduced interference, efficient channel utilization,
improved capacity, and enhanced vendor capabilities. Ensure accuracy of
Wi-Fi databases and various network management platforms and conduct
audits as needed. Develop optimization programs, execute plans and
standardize results reporting using rigorous analytics and aggregation of
data from multiple sources, including, but not limited to, field
measurements, network management systems, and other business platforms.
Develop network on-air packages and handoff to network management
groups. Provide Wi-Fi related support to the company's Product,
Marketing, Sales, Project Management, Construction, and Government Affairs
groups. Education & Experience Requirements: Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering,
Network Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign
education equivalent) plus 2 years of experience in systems and
network engineering. Or, alternatively, a Bachelor's degree and 5 years
of experience as stated above. Also requires: 1) Demonstrated expertise (DE) utilizing RF Wi-Fi Microwave
802.11 expertise to converge DOCSIS network into a Wi-Fi
environment; 2) DE designing and deploying wireless networks and operating
high density-high traffic Wi-Fi networks; 3) DE performing geo-spatial analysis including screening the
RF environment of any proposed location/venue, and creating
coverage propagation models based on network requirements; 4) DE utilizing databases and network management tools to
support data and geo-spatial analytics useful in defining pipeline usage and
other KPIs relevant for network continuity; 5) DE utilizing Tableau to parse and filter data, and deliver
data reports and visuals to management and executives; 6) DE utilizing multiple wireless planning and measurement
tools, such as AirMagnet, IXIA Chariot, iperf , to test the wireless network
and validate performance of the wireless entity; and, 7) DE performing network engineering, analyzing WiFi packets,
and troubleshooting at the TCP/IP and Application layer to
understand the packet losses, latency, UDP/TCP streaming problems or any other
