You will report to and work in collaboration with the Director of Diversity & Inclusion to provide leadership for the processes and systems for the firm's diversity and inclusion efforts and initiatives.-- This role is focused on the development and implementation of policies and procedures. You will work closely and collaboratively with different forums, teams and committees, and will work with the Director of Diversity & Inclusion to oversee and grow a dynamic team.Successful candidates will have an interest in and some experience with diversity and inclusion efforts at a large organization.-- The ideal candidate is an experienced operations and project manager who is a passionate self-starter, eager to contribute substantively to building programs, systems and processes for the success of diversity and inclusion efforts and initiatives at Ropes & Gray.PROJECT MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:In collaboration with the Director of D&I, determine and define the scope and objectives of D&I programs, projects, and initiatives.Execute policy, planning, and strategy decisions.Develop, implement and review operational policies and procedures within the D&I space.Develop and manage a detailed program, project, and initiatives schedule and work plan.Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner.Create regularly scheduled reports for the Diversity and Policy Committees; provide updates on a consistent basis about strategy, adjustments, and progress on D&I initiatives.Regularly review the D&I budget and related expendituresProject and event/activity planning.Work closely with the Women's Forum Manager on projects and initiatives.Oversee the responses to surveys, RFPs, and client diversity inquiries as well as sponsorship requestsIdentify and address process efficiencies and areas for improvement within the D&I team.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:Bachelor's degree in operations or project management or related areas preferred; J.D. or advanced degree a plus.A minimum of 8 years of experience in HR at a law firm or professional services firm, with at least 5 years of experience in diversity and inclusion.Experience in project management, operations, and leadership.Understanding of and interest in diversity and inclusion, having had previous experience in a law firm, law school, or other professional setting.--Prior people management experience a plus.Experience in preparing and monitoring a department budget.Ability to work independently and flexibly, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.--Sound judgment and ability to respect, protect and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.Ability to assimilate information quickly in order to grasp larger concepts as well as details.Energetic orientation; driven to and energized by accomplishment.Ability to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities; and have the ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks.Ability to anticipate problems and issues and exercise independent judgment in seeking a resolution.Ability to build consensus and relationships among all levels of an organization, and specifically within the D&I team.Excellent communication skills.Advanced skill in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.This position is open to Boston, Chicago, New York, or San Francisco office locations.--WORKING CONDITIONS:Incumbent is expected to work the hours necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.The above job description is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the--performance of this job.
