We have built the technical and financial infrastructure to increase access to credit in emerging and frontier markets, including a proprietary database of over 17,000,000 loans across 21 countries. To date, we have helped more than 1.2m people get access to fair loans and deployed over $130m of capital to FinTechs across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

About the Opportunity:

We are looking for an individual to join our Investments Team to lead our expansion and growth into Latin America. You must be passionate about FinTech, private credit, and financial inclusion. You will be joining a rapidly growing company with an increasing AUM base and leading our entry into the LatAm market. Your primary responsibilities will be to build a pipeline of high quality FinTech clients and ensure lending transactions with these clients are closed by owning the relationship and deal execution from first call through to funding. You will work closely with the CIO, risk, legal and the data science team to execute and close credit transactions.

What you will do:
Own structured debt transactions from origination through to execution and closing
Produce and update the LatAM origination and product strategy by researching the market, identifying and actively pursuing target clients.
Execute against aggressive growth targets by building a pipeline of the best technology enabled lenders, marketplaces and payment providers in the region and moving them through the pipeline from prospects to clients.
Define regional marketing strategy, attend conferences, and meet with potential clients to create our market presence.
Filter prospects based on their suitability as a debt financing partner.
Work closely with the CIO and the investment team to negotiate terms, structure transactions, run due diligence and underwriting process, and present transactions to the IC.
Monitor existing positions and manage client relationships
Long-term, build out a local office presence (depending on business expansion and hiring plans).

At least 10 years of experience in the financial services industry with 2+ years in FinTech in Latin America
5+ years working in private credit or structured debt

Relationship Management
Has existing relationships in the market with FinTechs, VC investors, DFIs, advisory firms etc. that can be farmed to generate leads
Cares deeply about client experience. Is responsive, collaborative, and thrives on direct communication
Has in depth market knowledge and can provide the wider team with on-the-ground colour on counterparties and the market in general
Project management
Creates structured segmentation and origination plan for region - act as the 'go to' person for LatAm
Laser focused on closing deals, pipeline growth, and moving clients through a pipeline
Keeps both internal and external clients to tight deal calendars and ensures that any delays/obstacles are resolved quickly
Commanding presence in a room
Ability to make decisions quickly in the face of ambiguity
Strong negotiator
Technical capability
Ability to understand FinTech financial models and business plans
Ability to understand legal entity structures and the structuring of credit transactions and security packages
Ability to apply technical understanding to filter and structure deals to create a LatAm portfolio that fits our mandate and risk parameters
Cares about impact and financial inclusion and how they feed into decision making
Has a collegiate and open approach to working within a diverse team
Takes ownership of projects whilst ensuring transparent communication and a focus on the end goal
Language: Fluency in English and Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) required; Portuguese skills are an advantage
