The Senior Product Analyst contributes to the development of the
company's product features, pricing and competitive position.
He/she analyzes business issues and provides recommendations for
the implementation of new rating plans, underwriting rules, process
improvements, and other initiatives to support profitable growth
and improve competitive position.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Assists Product Manager with review of all product proposals.
Examines the impact of changes in state regulatory environment on
the product and business processes and proposes necessary
Designs, reviews, and analyzes monthly and quarterly reports used
to manage the company's financial and operational performance, as
well as ad hoc analyses as needed.
Analyzes competitive data, identifies trends and opportunities.
Recommends areas for enhancement to our product to improve
Creates annual loss and premium budgets.
Effectively uses available tools and data systems to identify, test
and solve strategic business issues within the company
data/reports, troubleshoots when there are inconsistencies and
presents findings to management.
Collaborates with other functional areas such as Customer Service,
Marketing, Claims, Finance, Information Systems, and Senior
Management to assess the potential effects of these changes and
incorporates these considerations into the recommendations.
Constructively challenges current processes and proposed solutions
to obtain the best outcome.
Serves as a mentor to entry-level analysts
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education
Demonstrated creative problem solving gained through related
coursework and practical work experience.
3 or more years in product management, actuarial, or other
3 or more years of experience with relational database tools and
Experience communicating business requirements to both management
and technical developers.
BA/BS degree in quantitative field of study; advanced degree
Property and Casualty Insurance experience preferred. Ability to
work independently to lead complex projects and communicate to
diverse audiences including technical and non-technical, senior
management and fellow analysts.
Ability to make decisions with limited data.
SAS and regression analysis experience.
Extensive programming query experience (SQL or Visual Basic).
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation
Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
