We're looking for an experienced Financial Controller to lead our
accounting function across several divisions. A successful
candidate will have strong accounting skills and management
experience to support the needs of the organization and senior
leadership team.
Responsibilities include
- Oversee the accounting operations for the company, including
accounts payable, A/R invoicing and the cash receipts application
in a timely manner
- Prepare, maintain general ledger accounts and consolidated
income statements across business units
- Complete monthly close process, including preparation of
journal entries and period-end accruals, and performing general
ledger account reconciliations, including researching and resolving
reconciling items
- Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements
- Monitor revenue recognition to be in compliance with ASC 606
and review contracts to ensure testing is followed
- Prepare annual budgets in partnership with finance leadership
and the CEO, periodic forecasts and variance analysis reporting
significant issues to management
- Cooperate with holding company financial and SOX audit
processes, including monthly and quarterly controls
- Manage the preparation of required documentation for - external
auditors on a quarterly basis
- Build relationships with other controllers and accounting
groups across our parent company to ensure accurate and timely
intercompany transactions
- Strengthen and maintain a system of controls over accounting
transactions
Here are a few indicators that you're the right person
- You're great at checking your work, and ensuring that numbers
are reasonable -
- You're great at communicating numbers to non-technical
individuals, including through written communication or through
graphics
- You have a strong understanding of financial statements and
journal entries, and demonstrate mastery of GAAP
- You're able to communicate well regardless of the medium,
whether it's in person, over video call, or via written
communications -
- You're able to manage many moving parts and orchestrate
processes to support both financial and operational reporting needs
for timely decision making
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office including Word,
PowerPoint, and Excel (especially using filters, pivot tables,
VLOOKUP, etc.)
- You're able to organize, plan and prioritize work in a
fast-paced work environment, while keeping a keen eye on
deadlines
Requirements
- CPA required
- Media industry preferred
- Public accounting experience preferred
