What You'll Do:
News Corp is looking for a Director, Accounting Policy, to join its corporate finance team in Midtown Manhattan. As the Director you will have the opportunity to assist in the technical accounting research and analysis to ensure New's Corp's compliance with applicable accounting rules, regulations and Company policies.-- These responsibilities include the evaluation of actual and proposed transactions, US GAAP technical issues, the adoption of new accounting standards and related accounting policy implementations.-- You will also have regular interaction with business unit accounting personnel and corporate departments and have the opportunity to assist with the Company's quarterly SEC filings and earnings related documents on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
--


Assisting in technical accounting research and analysis to ensure compliance with applicable accounting rules--


Provide technical accounting guidance and interpretation for News Corp business units on a wide range of technical areas including but not limited to business combinations, dispositions, revenue recognition, impairment, leases, stock compensation and pensions


Direct involvement in the project management of the annual impairment reviews for the Company's goodwill and indefinite-lived intangible assets


Assist in key accounting policy projects and new accounting standard implementation


Assist in monitoring external accounting and US GAAP/SEC developments that potentially impact News Corp's financial statements


Assist in preparation of 10-Q, 10-K and other SEC filings including financial statements, footnote disclosures and MD&A to ensure timely and accurate filings and ensure compliance with SEC requirements, on an as needed basis


Provide direct support on various special projects

Required Experience & Qualifications:


7- 10 years of public or private accounting experience


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting


CPA--


Experience with technical accounting research and preparing technical accounting position papers


Technical accounting skills including business combinations, goodwill and intangible asset impairment testing, revenue recognition, accounting for pensions and stock based compensation


Must have strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented


Strong time management skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment.


Excellent written and verbal communication


Must be comfortable working both independently and in a team environment


Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word

Preferred Skills & Knowledge:


Media and entertainment industry experience


Big Four auditing or accounting advisory experience


SEC reporting experience a plus


Strong Excel and Word skills

Location: New York City
Working Arrangement:-- In office 3 days per week (Tuesday - Thursday) and extended work hours may be required.
