Job Description:

A New York City professional services firm is currently seeking an experienced Tax professional to join their staff as their new -Tax Managing Director. In this role, the Tax Managing Director will be responsible for -providing -tax compliance and advisory services to tax-exempt organizations and foundations.

Responsibilities:

The -Tax Managing Director will:

• 
  
• Plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects
  
• Provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients
  
• Market, design, and implement tax-planning strategies for clients and manage to budget
  
• Conduct secondary review of, and have ultimate responsibility for, complex income tax returns, including Federal and multi-state filings
  
• Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, ensure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively
  
• Manage, develop, train, and mentor -Associates and Managers on tax projects
  
• Assess performance for engagement reviews
  
• Research and write complex tax issues and matters
  
• Perform other duties, as needed
  
  Qualifications:
  
  
  • 
    
  • 12+ years of relevant work experience within an Accounting and/or Law firm; 6+ years of Private Client experience
    
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree
    
  • Advanced credential allowing for client representation before the Internal Revenue Service required (i.e. CPA or JD);
    
  • Hands on experience with review and complex preparation of Forms 990, 990-PF, 990-T and state charitable registrations
    
  • Knowledge of unrelated Business Tax, Benefit, and other Tax-exemption / Nonprofit organization issues
    
  • Strong technical knowledge of complex Tax issues
    
  • Microsoft Excel proficient
    
  • Solid analytical, mathematical, and research skills
    
  • Great interpersonal skills
    
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    
  • Strong attention to detail
    
  • Highly organized
    
    Desired Skills:
    
    
    • 
      
    • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Accounting, Economics, and/or Finance
      
    • Experience with Individual and Corporate Taxes
