About the role Home Office Travel Underwriter will be responsible for managing underwriting strategy for Global Individual Travel products by producing profitable and sustainable business. The role would encompass strategic planning, product development, portfolio management, process and audits. The person will be charged with monitoring and compliance to internal underwriting guidelines and procedures at global level. This role will also serve as the senior point of reference and expertise for Home Office Individual Travel referrals and will report into the Global Travel Underwriting Officer. The role will serve as the Global Underwriter and will coordinate with the local country level underwriters for AIG's global strategic account. Main Duties & Responsibilities: Direct accountability for the underwriting results with respect to profitability and loss ratio for assigned Global Individual Travel business. Assist Global Travel Underwriting Officer in developing and updating Risk Appetite Statements. Lead the execution of underwriting best practices and guidelines to ensure rating and pricing adequacy and adherence to risk appetite. Ensure all underwriting directives and compliance processes are followed. Adhere to underwriting authority and underwriting guidelines referenced in the underwriting manual. Liaise with Regional Underwriting Manager or Regional Travel Manager (where relevant) based in AIGs regional office in Europe, Middle East, Asia & South America - i.e. to obtain approval on risks which exceed country and regional underwriting authority. Work closely with client and internal project management team to understand client's product requirements and provide innovative solutions to meet those requirements ensuring profitability and sustainability. Collaborate with Product Management and Distribution to ensure a team approach to deliver customized and innovative solutions to customers Review business analytics and provide leadership in the decision making on required underwriting actions. Coordinating with Home Office Legal team on all legal and compliance matters of the department Liaise with Product Development team to ensure products go through the appropriate product development process. Assist in achieving overall GPW goal in collaboration with the Distribution. Work closely and share responsibility for overall revenue goal through new business and retention targets Develop and implement action plans based on audit recommendations and findings Manage global business pipeline and ensure service levels are achieved by managing workflow between underwriting and distribution Position Requirements: 7 years of relevant experience Master's in Management or equivalent preferred. Knowledge of travel product underwriting preferred. Experience managing large and complexity accounts. Analytical and quantitative skills Strong execution and results orientation Strong communication and influencing skills and proven ability to collaborate and work across multiple areas of the organization Well-developed planning, organizational, presentational and budgeting skills Self-motivated and able to establish and execute multi-faceted projects.
