ROOSEVELT ISLAND OPERATING CORPORATION (RIOC) TITLE: Building
Admin/CPO DEPARTMENT: Sportspark POSITION TYPE: Full-time SALARY
RANGE: $65,000/Annually The Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation
(RIOC) is a public benefit corporation and politic arm of New York
State, whose mission is to develop, maintain, and operate the
infrastructure of Roosevelt Island. As part of this mandate, RIOC
operates and maintains several facilities including the Cultural
Center, Sportspark, and the Motorgate Garage; as well as other
outdoor spaces such as Firefighter's Field, Southpoint Park, and
Lighthouse Park, among other facilities and locations.
Infrastructure operations also includes the Aerial Tramway, and a
free Red Bus Service that stops at various points on Roosevelt
Island; and a Public Safety Department that serves as the
community's first responders in coordination with the New York City
Police Department. RIOC's workforce is also comprised of union
workers from Local 210, 32BJ, PSOB, and other administrative staff.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Sportspark Athletic Complex is fixated on
Roosevelt Island and owned/operated by the Roosevelt Island
Operating Corporation. The goal of the complex is to provide a
health and wellness area for all community members to access to
maintain a healthy lifestyle. The complex includes a basketball
gym, fitness center, weight room, studio, and swimming pool. We are
consistently seeking inspiring and motivating members and employees
to maximize the services provided by this facility to benefit the
community. Under the supervision of the Sportspark Manager, the
Building Admin/CPO will handle the day-to-day operations of the
newly renovated Sportspark Athletic Complex while delivering high
levels of customer service and resources to the community.
Sportspark hours of operations are Monday through Friday from 7:00
a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are illustrative and not

a logical assignment to the position. Deliver an exceptional
customer service experience for members. Assists in the daily
operation of the Sportspark building and other RIOC facilities.
Assist in the supervision, training, organizing, and scheduling of
staff Maintain emergency procedures to ensure aquatic and fitness
center safety that include quick checks and regular documented
staff observations. Monitoring that all aquatics area equipment,
filtration systems and pool related items. Oversee HVAC and fire
alarm systems and relay information to the Maintenance Department
for guidance and assistance. Performs light maintenance work at
Sportspark, including maintaining floors, cleaning rest rooms,
locker facilities and pool area. Responsible for daily walkthroughs
of the building and taking preventive measures to ensure the
facilities are operational, including troubleshooting and placing
work tickets for broken equipment. Manage equipment and supplies
inventory. Assist permit holders providing superior customer
service and providing set up needs where applicable. Set up and
breakdown of Sportspark equipment for specific groups permitting
space or during RIOC sponsored events Keep excellent track of
equipment, safety inspections and health code records Serving as a
customer service representative, assisting members, permittees, and
the public. Assist with scheduling and overseeing contracted
vendors, assigned staff, programs, and other areas. Assist with
membership enrollment, check-in, and registration Collecting &
processing payments from patrons utilizing sessions at the swimming
pool, gym, as well as other programmed activities at RIOC
facilities. Supervise part-time, seasonal staff to ensure
facilities are operating efficiently and have the coverage
necessary during operating hours. Supervise and assist with
instructor management, outreach and retention including overseeing
classes while on site. Conducting financial tasks and record
keeping, including cash and credit card transactions, and writing
receipts and end of day summariesas directed. Special projects as
assigned by management. SKILLLS & QUALIFICATIONS : Basic knowledge
of computer systems and membership software. Certified Pool
Operators License. Water Safety Instructor certificate preferred.
CPR/AED certification preferred. Experience with pool filtration
equipment. Ability to relate effectively to all different groups of
people from many different types of backgrounds. Proven ability to
demonstrate good judgement in problem solving and make decisions.

adequate reporting when requested. Strong customer service skills,
and ability to interact in person and over the phone communicating
clearly and efficiently to patrons. Strong oral and written
communication skills with ability to work effectively and build
relationships with others. Ability to demonstrate effective project
coordination, facilitation, and implementation. EDUCATION &
EXPERIENCE: The successful candidate must have a broad range of
skills, but above all, they must be curious, flexible thinkers who
love learning new things and tackling challenges daily. In
addition, the preferred candidate should possess the following: 1.
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in
Sports, Fitness, Health & Wellness, or related field preferred; and
four (4) years of experience in aquatics or related field with at
least two (2) years of supervision experience. 2. A four-year high
school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's
Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization
and minimum of six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience
in health and wellness, aquatics, or related field with three (3)
years of supervision experience. 3. A satisfactory combination of
education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" and "2"
described above. Graduate study in the field of Sports, Fitness,
Health & Wellness, aquatics, or other related fields may be
substituted for up to one year of the required experience on the
basis of 30 credits equaling one year of experience. Graduation
from an accredited school may be substituted for one year of the
required experience. However, all candidates must have at least
four years of experience as described above. What we offer:
