Job Description:

SJR Copywriters are part of our creative studio that ensures SJR is seen as leading agency in digital creative content solutions around the world. This role reports to the Associate Creative Director.

Our Copywriters are talented all-rounders, equal parts creative thinker, researcher, fact-checker and team player. They are meticulous above all else, able to work across a broad range of verticals and touch all aspects of content from social posts to infographics, ensuring the delivery of error-free, well- researched work that meets SJR's content marketing standards.

A dedicated and self-motivated creative with a collaborative spirit, the Copywriter has a strong willingness to experiment, learn new skills and grow creatively. From brainstorming creative concepts to executing original ideas, they wield the power of creative writing to their best ability to create compelling copy and storytelling experiences, while maintaining SJR's creative excellence.

As part of our talented creative force, the Copywriter is responsible for upholding the highest creative writing standards and and setting the tone for the overall experience with SJR.


Creative Strategy + Copywriting (90%)
Concept, plan and execute integrated campaigns and compelling creative content for various social touchpoints: Actively participate in ideation and brainstorming sessions
Conduct background research to mine for story ideas and angles
Pitch breakthrough ideas and provide conceptual, big thinking
Ensure information is represented accurately, is referenced through the editing, and fact-checking process
Edit, optimize and sometimes write for different mediums: web, social, film,
Proofread and line edit copy, as needed, to improve accuracy, readability and consistency, while incorporating all client feedback and meeting specific style guides
Provide thoughtful feedback on graphics, animations and other creative outputs
Execute creative that is innovative, compelling and inherently sharable

Work closely with Associate Creative Director and Client Services to oversee and build upon content strategy and messaging
Liaise with Editorial team to translate longer form technical writing and concepts into short and engaging content
Demonstrates strategic thinking by staying abreast of client's business, emerging industry trends and topic areas with an aim to be ahead of the curve on innovative storytelling
Able to successfully communicate content ideas and the strategic rationale behind them
Analyze and benchmark creative performance alongside Analytics, Editorial and Client Services team's
Collaborate inclusively and openly with multi-disciplinary teams and client(s)
Demonstrate problem-solving skills when dealing with client feedback; provides input and escalates as necessary
Manage time and workflow efficiently - take responsibility for deadlines and delivery, flag potential issues early, work with the wider team to identify solutions
Able to work independently with speed and efficiency
Help to maintain an archive of all visual assets for easy viewing and access by key stakeholders
Actively checks and reviews content to maintain quality control and ensure all creative executions meets SJR's standard

Growth + Business Development (10%)
Support pitch development and presentations as required
Support client services team with client expansion opportunities through ideation, concepting and developing supporting creative
Has sensitivity and awareness of which media and design elements to use in presentations
Monitor news and trends relevant to key clients / accounts they are working on to identify risks that may impact current projects and opportunities to develop and pitch relevant new ideas

At least 2 to 3 years of experience in creative copywriting (agency setting preferred)
Good portfolio of relevant work showcasing writing skills
Outstanding written skills; able to deliver written materials error-free, grammatically correct
Demonstrated ability of creative and innovative thought processes
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent time management skills to manage high volume and produce high-quality work on tight deadlines
Detail-oriented, organized and comfortable managing multiple projects and client feedback
Flexible, adaptable and responsive when quick turnarounds are required
Solid research skills, including fact checking and the ability to analyze and utilize data to add depth to a story
Experience using collaborative team communication and project management applications like Slack, Trello & MS teams to ensure efficiency
Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications
