The Director of Lifecycle and Retention Marketing defines overall lifecycle strategy and key objectives across key reader segments (prospects, registered users, subscribers, former subscribers) and leads the customer journey mapping, campaign concepting, digital marketing message testing and creative development to deliver engaging experiences for readers. The Director will work collaboratively with our Brand, Analytics, Data Science, and Product teams to develop a detailed understanding of New York subscribers and the types of communications strategies and tactics that are most effective for specific subscriber audiences, leveraging this knowledge to build a highly engaged customer base and deliver strong business results. -
Responsibilities: -

  • Build and manage a high-performing team to optimize personalized consumer engagement and retention strategies and campaigns across onsite, email, mobile push, SMS, and other channels
  • Employ a rigorous test-and-learn agenda to build and continually optimize New York 's subscriber communications playbooks with the goal of increasing engagement and extending subscriber lifetimes
  • Collaborate with the Data Science and Insights teams to identify and refine audience segments while deepening understanding of content and strategies that drive engagement and conversion -
  • Leverage data to drive detailed analyses of audience, campaign, and program KPIs and identify optimization and testing opportunities
  • Create wrap-up reports that clearly and concisely communicate campaign results, insights and recommended next steps Needed:
    • Experience in recurring revenue / subscription business -
    • Deep understanding of email, paid engagement marketing campaigns and optimization techniques, tactics, and best practices.
    • Deep understanding of digital marketing analytics, tracking program performance, and testing results.
    • Proven track record of successfully building and executing a strategic campaign testing roadmap; implementing key wins and evolving subsequent testing phases based on new insights
    • A mindset focused on attention to detail and quality of results
