Job Description:
The Corporate Affairs & Communications (CA) department serves as
the voice of and for American Express, with responsibility for
Public Affairs & Media Relations, Colleague Communications,
Corporate Social Responsibility, and Social Media. Within CA, the
Corporate Communications team handles communications for American
Express' business strategy and financial performance, brand and
reputation, digital innovation, social media communications and the
company's external corporate content strategy.The Writer/Editorial
Manager for the American Express Newsroom will play a pivotal role
in crafting and telling our company's story. This role on the
Corporate Communications team reports to the Vice President Content
and Managing Editor of the American Express Newsroom. This is an
exciting opportunity to drive innovation in how American Express
communicates its key priorities and initiatives to its customers,
colleagues and communities.The person in this role will be
responsible for writing and editing content for American Express'
main corporate channels and for coordinating editorial activities
for the American Express Newsroom, including editorial planning;
creating, curating, and publishing content; and editorial calendar
coordination.. The person in this role will work closely with the
entire owned-content platform team and with global colleagues in
colleague communications and external communications to effectively
articulate the company's many stories.Specifically, we are looking
for someone with excellent writing and copy-editing skills as well
as a passion for the American Express brand, a keen eye for
identifying compelling story angles that showcase the unique
attributes of our company and its culture, a collaborative
attitude, and the ability to think creatively and drive
results.Responsibilities:Write several editorial stories per week
to bring the American Express Newsroom to life.Copy edit content
for American Express' external corporate channels, including the
Newsroom.Join editorial planning meetings and contribute to
editorial calendar coordinationfor the Newsroom, working with a
wide range of partners, including the internal Colleague
Communications team and social media team.Create, curate and post
content to the American Express Newsroom.Measure impact by tracking
engagement; compile, present and distribute recap reports.Remain up
to date with emerging platforms, trends and best practices and

and social media communications. Knowledge of SEO preferred.Strong
copy editing and grammar skills.Ability to write clear, concise
content (video, podcast, short-form/ long-form, social media) that
reflect a consistent tone.Strong time management and project
management skills; ability to work confidently under tight
deadlines while paying close attention to detail.Exceptional
collaboration skills and an ability to build relationships with a
wide range of internal partners.Willingness to dive into new
opportunities and work with a "no task is too small" attitude.You
are always thinking "how can we do this better?"Writing samples
will be requested; and a writing test will be administered
