unconditionally. We are seeking a dynamic Social Practitioner to
lead our Communications Unit in our new 600-member Adult Clubhouse
on Manhattan’s Lower East Side/Chinatown neighborhood – Elements
House-LES, a member of Clubhouse International. Reporting to the
Assistant Director, the Social Practitioner (Communications Unit)
works collaboratively with members to drive all internal and
external clubhouse communications, including newsletters, social
media, flyers, outreach materials, photography, storytelling,
digital content, and member-led communication projects. The
position is open to U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders – any other
applicants are required to have their own valid work authorization
in place at the time of applying for NYDIS job openings.
Responsibilities: • Co-create and lead daily communication
activities such as newsletter writing, graphic design, photography,
video editing, social media content, and event promotions. •\tTeach
members practical skills including writing, editing, visual design,
branding, storytelling, desktop publishing, and digital media
tools. •\tSupport members in developing communication pieces that
reflect clubhouse identity, strengths, and member voice. •\tCoach
members in email etiquette, professional communication, Canva
usage, and basic design. •\tMaintain calendars, project timelines,
content archives, and ensure timely release of newsletters and unit
deliverables. •\tEncourage member-led roles such as newsletter
editor, social media coordinator, photographer, or outreach content
creator. •\tBuild relationships with local media outlets, community
partners, and communications programs to increase visibility of
Elements House-LES. •\tCoordinate coverage of clubhouse events,
community partnerships, and member stories. •\tCollaborate with
other units to create effective promotional materials for programs,
open houses, employment events, and outreach activities. •\tEnsure
compliance with all Clubhouse, NYDIS, and DOHMH policies and
reporting requirements. •\tSupport audits, performance reviews, and
internal evaluation processes. •\tAttend staff meetings,
professional development, and Clubhouse International training
courses as required Qualifications include: •\tHigh school diploma
required, college degree preferred. •\t1-3 years working with
individuals with serious mental illness or in a community setting.
•\t1-2 years in coaching/counseling and vocational rehabilitation
preferred. •\tBilingual candidates are preferred, with a focus on
Chinese and/or Spanish. •\tProven experience with mental health
crisis management by supporting and counseling members. Salary
range, $55,000-$65,000 commensurate with experience - with
