Students and faculty are from more than 120 countries and speak more than 85 languages, with many students the first in their families to attend college.The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) at City Tech is responsible for the administration, compliance and documentation of all sponsored programs. OSP is seeking to hire a Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs. The OSP is physically located within the Faculty Commons (FC), a hub for faculty professional development, along with the Offices of Assessment and Institutional Research and Evaluation and the Faculty Commons Design Team. OSP works in partnership with the CUNY Research Foundation, the fiscal agent for all grants and contracts. City Tech is committed to providing broad access to high quality technological and professional education for a diverse population, and OSP plays a critical role in fulfilling the college's mission.Under the direct supervision of the Provost, the Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) works collaboratively with faculty and units across the college to advance the college's research mission and strategic plan through proposal submission for external funding and responsible grant administration.The Director will:* Provide leadership and vision to staff and faculty involved in review, approval, negotiation and administration of research and education proposals;

* Serve as the presidentially-designated Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR), the legal signatory for all official grant transactions;

* Serve as the institutional point of contact for internal funding competitions from PSC CUNY and the CUNY Office of Research.

* Contribute as a strategic member of the Provost's Senior Staff, consulting with administrators and faculty on matters of significance.

* Supervise OSP staff to assure administration, compliance, and documentation of all sponsored programs.

* Review and approve detailed documents, proposals, reports, and other complex materials to assist in decision-making and assure compliance with funding agency and other requirements.

* Research and disseminate funding opportunities through regular and reliable channels of communication.

* Support proposal preparation and coordination for individual faculty members and teams through grants consultation and searches;

* Liaise with federal program officers, as needed, for questions related to all phases of proposal submission and grant administration.

* Provide expert guidance on all stages of proposal development, including:

* Ensuring that proposal goals and activities are aligned with funding agency mission;* Assisting with preparation of non-technical sections of proposals including institutional profile, facilities and library resources, and prior funding information;* Facilitating institutional support for specific proposal initiatives from relevant offices and units;* Providing detailed review and recommendations for all proposals under development;* Interfacing with external partners from cultural, scientific, and community organizations to develop multi-sector initiatives that can attract funding support;* Build faculty capacity to create competitive funding proposals by implementing professional development activities (including grant-writing workshops) in a systematic developmental framework.QUALIFICATIONSMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* Master's degree or higher.

* Excellent written communication skills.

* Five years of prior research administration experience in higher education.

* Wide-ranging curiosity and ability to encourage intellectual exploration in others.

* Ability to develop and present programs and/or workshops related to grants.

* Record of success in helping academic applicants win grants from federal and other agencies.
