Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the Renaissance School
of Medicine at Stony Brook University invites applications for
multiple tenure-track faculty positions in the areas of microbial
pathogenesis, virology, and immunology. Applicants working in
virology, viral pathogenesis, or immunology as it relates to
infection are particularly encouraged to apply. Successful
applicants are expected to establish and maintain an
extramurally-funded research program and actively participate in
the teaching and service missions within the Department and
University. The positions include a competitive start-up package,

BSL3 and animal BSL3 space.The Department

interactive scientific community through collaborative interactions
with faculty throughout the Renaissance School of Medicine and
University. The Department is home to two graduate programs
(Microbiology & -Immunology and Genetics) and two NIH-funded
training grants (T32, K12), providing opportunities for graduate
student and postdoctoral fellow mentoring and support. The position
offers competitive startup support and modern research space. Stony
Brook University maintains state-of-the-art core facilities that
support areas including microscopy and animal imaging, flow
cytometry, RNA and single cell sequencing, genomics,
transcriptomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, animal maintenance,
and BSL3 containment. The recently completed Laboratory for
Comparative Medicine provides animal facilities for ABSL3 research.
The dynamic intellectual environment includes the Stony Brook
University tertiary care Hospital and Cancer Center, the nearby
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a VA Hospital and Research Center,
and the Brookhaven National Laboratory research facilities.The

practices.QualificationsRequired QualificationsApplicants must have
a PhD or MD degree (or equivalent) and three years or more of
postdoctoral experience.Preferred QualificationsPreferred areas of
research interest are those that complement existing departmental
strengths in viral, bacterial, and fungal pathogenesis, the
immunology of infection, and mucosal immunity. Preferred candidates
will have a track record of research, publications, and the ability
