Job Description:
The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia
University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) is recruiting for an MD or
MD/PhD academic transfusion medicine physician of any rank to join
our faculty in the Division of Transfusion Medicine and Stem Cell
Therapy. This Division provides state-of-the-art care to our adult
and pediatric patient population, and includes blood banking
service, therapeutic apheresis service, cell therapy collections,
and a Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) cellular therapy
laboratory. Applicants should have an established track record of
accomplishment within their field. Candidates with an interest in
apheresis, cellular collections, and cellular therapy clinical
trials are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have
the appropriate training and certification in transfusion medicine
with the American Board of Pathology, or other equivalent relevant
accrediting organization, and have a record of scholarly
achievements. In addition, the department seeks candidates whose
research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to
our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education and
healthcare.
The position also includes responsibilities for teaching pathology
residents, medical students, and technical staff. The position
offers a competitive salary commensurate with training and
experience, and an appointment to the faculty of the Columbia
University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons.
The Blood Bank, apheresis unit, and Cellular Therapy Laboratory at
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/CUIMC is located in the Washington
Heights neighborhood of New York City, offering unparalleled
opportunities to work and live in a thriving, diverse, metropolitan
environment with access to world-class cultural institutions,
restaurants, and entertainment. The services are located on the 4th
floor of the Harkness Pavilion building and distributes -30,000 red
blood cell units per year, performs -1500 apheresis procedures and
160 cellular therapy collections annually. The Laboratory is
accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the
Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB), and
the New York State Department of Health.
Hiring Salary Range: $195,000 to $370,000
M.D. or M.D./Ph.D.
The successful candidate will have the appropriate training and
certification in transfusion medicine with the American Board of
Pathology, or other equivalent relevant accrediting organization,
