National Grid is hiring a Senior Designer in Canarsie Brooklyn,
The Senior Designer will fulfill large scope standard engineering
design and project management responsibilities for customer
sponsored gas growth opportunities. This role will help develop
standards and procedures to ensure proper coordination of customer
driven work.Key Accountabilities
-- Develop / coordinate gas system designs for large scale,
customer requested gas projects (services, main extensions,

State/Federal statutory requirements into Gas systems designs.
-- Incorporate process safety procedures into the project work flow
as required. Develop / coordinate project estimates, within

-- Identify the necessary permits, licenses, and land rights
associated with the project.
-- Working with others in Gas Operations and Gas Engineering as
well as other departments to oversee project from beginning to

-- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and 5+ years of
engineering, design or project management experience.
-- Understanding of design and construction standards, engineering
drawings, and underground construction methods and procedures.
-- Commitment Safety as a core value. Knowledge of OSHA, NYS,
-- Technical knowledge of natural gas system design and operations
including natural gas industry codes and regulations, engineering
and environmental codes and standards.
-- Project management experience on medium to large scale capital
construction projects is a plus.
-- Demonstration of a high level of personal initiative and ability
to interact with a diverse group of company personnel, contractors,
regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive
-- Ability to utilize project estimating tools and undertake
analysis using such tools to provide written reports identifying
causes for variation and possible corrective measures.
-- Proficiency with PC software applications including the
Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with work management
applications such as Maximo and Power Plant is a plus.
-- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects within
budget and time constraints.
-- Ability to assess project scopes and identify required variances
prior to design to ensure a complete, high quality and safe project
