SENIOR PROJECT DESIGN ENGINEER Level IV Long Island City, NY As Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing highly complex electro-mechanical sensors and actuators for a variety of automotive applications. These products will incorporate a range of technologies including position sensing, fluid flow control and mechanical activation through complex geartrain systems. You will be responsible from initial product identification through production launch. In addition, you will assist with the process development, as well as provide support for existing product families. Responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing products for the automotive market.
• Researching and applying new design & manufacturing concepts.
• Self-educating on product related technologies in order to function as a subject matter expert.
• Completing Bill of Materials - detailed component & assembly drawings.
• Evaluating and approving components and final assemblies.
• Effective communication with outside vendors.
• Establishing product test specifications and validation requirements.
• Support development of cost studies and help prepare business case for tooling new products or product cost reduction efforts.
• Troubleshooting and resolving quality issues by working with production staff and applying statistical problem solving and quality principles. To qualify, you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, 10+ years of related product development experience and be advanced in using a 3D CAD software. Advanced degrees and specialized skills are a plus. Knowledge of sensors and actuators, DFMA, PCB design, stamping/injection molded part design, engineering plastics, and other materials is required. Excellent oral/written communication, problem-solving, organizational, and PC skills are all essential. We offer a convenient location just outside of Manhattan, competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.The estimated salary range for this position is $110,000- $130,000.Please note that the salary range provided on the job posting does not include potential bonuses and other forms of compensation and, in some cases, may fall outside the range.
