As the Engineer, you will perform engineering and design to ensure
successful completion of large-scale electric transmission and
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
--- Provide construction and project management assistance with
--- Provide technical expertise and support to Operations, Project
Management, Planning, Customer Services Departments, and external
customers in support of the LIPA underground transmission
--- Evaluate the application and use of materials, equipment and
new technologies on the LIPA system.
--- Develop and evaluate the design of electric systems and related
facilities based upon reliability and economy with consideration to
operation, safety and maintenance requirements.
--- Develop material, engineering design, construction
specifications/associated drawings, and standards as required for
successful completion of assigned transmission and substation
--- Develop, review and revise standards as a result of
recommendations by industry associations (e.g. IEEE, EEI, ANSI,
etc.) related to state of the art materials and
engineering/operating methods. Participate in R&D initiatives,
evaluate and procure new materials/equipment to improve performance
of the electric system.
--- Work with internal and external organizations/customers to
ensure prudent engineering solutions are undertaken to special
engineering and construction projects.
--- Perform budget/project cost estimates, special engineering
studies, investigations and calculations as required. Represent the
department and company at industry meetings.
Knowledge and Experience
--- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
--- Knowledge of engineering design and analysis.
--- Strong interpersonal, communications, writing and
administrative skills. Strong analytical and computer skills.
--- 0 - 2 years of progressive engineering and construction related
--- Knowledge of engineering design and analysis of electric
--- Knowledge of geotechnical studies and analysis
--- Knowledge of AutoCAD and TeamCenter Enterprise
--- Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC),
National Electrical Code (NEC) and other related guidelines related
to electric transmission system engineering, design and operation.
Familiarity with Occupational Safety Health Act (OSHA)
This ENTRY LEVEL ENGINEER position is a multi-level growth series
position, the title, grade level and incentive target assigned to
the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills and
related experience, learned through the interview process.
