The diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racist (DEIA) project manager is a professional with a proven track record of facilitating change across a large, networked organization. The project manager is responsible for delivering on the vision, goals, and strategy of Ascend's DEIA initiatives, in collaboration with Ascend's officer team, managing directors, school directors, and boards of education.The DEIA project manager will lead the implementation of Ascend's DEIA strategy to increase organizational capacity for DEIA throughout the Ascend community in support of Ascend's mission. We encourage them to collaborate closely and push one another to achieve great outcomes.You can learn more about the Ascend approach by visiting our website.ResponsibilitiesThe DEIA project manager will work beside the chief executive officer (CEO) and the officer team to launch a multi-year project plan to embed the DEIA values into all aspects of the Ascend community and our work. The DEIA project manager will:synthesize the strategic recommendations of the Equity Steering Committee to develop a three-year workplan; develop and manage a detailed strategic roadmap with key stakeholders across the network, beginning with a clear year one plan;map out the strategic workplans and associated change management required to embed DEIA into every aspect of Ascend's work;coordinate and collaborate with DEIA working groups to advance ongoing initiatives;develop and implement tools that support the visibility and clarity of DEIA working groups and of the organizational progress toward the vision and goals of Ascend; develop and manage communication plans to update staff on progress made by DEIA working groups provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress;monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed;utilize project management best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution;collaborate with internal and external experts to develop the scope and sequence of DEIA-related training and manage the implementation of the training;collaborate with the CEO and officer team to develop and implement an external and internal DEIA-focused communication planassess effectiveness of DEIA-related initiatives, training, and communicationReporting Relationships and TeamThe DEIA project manager will report directly to the chief executive officer and have dual accountability to the chief schools officer. Additionally, the project manager will collaborate closely with other members of the officer team as well as the managing directors, school leadership teams, teachers, board members, and families.QualificationsBachelor's degree, with an advanced degree preferred3+ years of project management experience requiredProven ability to create and complete complex, enterprise-wide projects according to planned scope and timeline; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferredExcellent analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize large bodies of information and transform them into detailed workplans and communication plansCollaborative decision-making style, with a proven track record of working effectively with diverse individuals to drive decision-making and resultsAbility to influence a diverse array of stakeholders from parents and community members to school directors and board of directorsEffective at demonstrating empathy, listening for understanding, and facilitating difficult conversations Strong relationship management skillsDemonstrated initiative and ownershipSelf-awareness, with an ability to treat members of the Ascend community with respectExcellent communication and presentation skills (written and oral)Experience in Agile teams a plusProficiency with related software tools, including but not limited to Zoho Projects, LiquidPlanner, Teamwork Projects, etc. a plusDiversity at AscendAscend is committed to building a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and anti-racist community, both through our hiring practices and our focus on creating a culture and environment where diverse perspectives, ideas, and identities are valued and integrated into our way of working and educating students.
