These public spaces, encompassing over 5,000 properties and 14% of the city's land and coastline, include nature centers, recreation centers, comfort stations, fire watchtowers, beaches and boardwalks, parks and playgrounds, historic houses, and pools.

---Report to the Director of Architecture on the progress of work assigned to a studio of 20 people for a portfolio of projects valued at approximately $250 million in design, procurement and construction. Work with the Director and reporting project managers to schedule design staff and assign tasks to maximize the quality of work and overall efficiency of the Architecture department.
---Assign projects to in-house staff or consultants. Review staff work and workload and approve schedules to meet production targets. Monitor design progress and staff for compliance with project milestone dates.
---Direct design staff to ensure project designs are well-thought-out and can be delivered on budget. Coordinate with support units and consultants to prioritize workload to ensure schedules are met throughout the process and assistance is provided as needed.
---Produce and maintain accurate staffing plans for the unit. Ensure project tracking databases are current and accurate.
---Review proposed architectural projects on mapped parkland for compliance with agency standards.
---Ensure documents are submitted to oversight regulatory agencies as required to obtain timely approvals. Review graphic and written design documents to ensure documents effectively convey the project's intent.
---Prepare analyses for potential future projects, including cost estimates and conceptual designs as necessary.
---Represent projects and the agency to outside organizations such as community boards, community interest groups and other city or state agencies.
---Sign and seal architectural and other official documents and related applications for agencies having jurisdiction.
---Assist with hiring, training, annual evaluations, and all administrative/personnel oversight. Assess skills of team staff and provide constructive direction to staff for professional development.

Qualification Requirements
A valid New York State Registration as an Architect is required. In addition, candidates must have six (6) years of full-time paid experience in architectural work, at least two (2) years of which shall have been as an administrative architect.

1. Ten (10) years of paid experience in architectural project management, at least three (3) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
2. Familiarity with New York City government and NYC Parks' & Recreation codes, policies and procedures.
3. LEED accreditation.
4. Excellent communication skills, including public speaking.
5. Strong time management and task prioritization abilities.
6. Excellent management skills, including the ability to listen to and motivate staff.
7. Fluency in industry standard software, including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
8. A driver license valid in New York State.

Salary: $110,000 plus excellent benefits
