Senior Director, Strategy & Consulting (Emerging Markets)

**ROLE SUMMARY**

Reporting to the SVP, Strategy & Consulting, this role is responsible for working with the Emerging Markets BU (EMBU) to shape, develop, and enable execution of strategies that will advance and grow the business. The scope of the role will include all key aspects under the purview of the EMBU, including key markets, products, and other functional priorities. While this position reports into the Strategy & Consulting organization, this person will work closely with the EMBU leadership team in order to stay connected to key business challenges and opportunities, and ensure that there is alignment on strategic priorities, or make adjustments to priorities when necessary. The scope of the role will focus on three key accountabilities: 1) facilitate the development of the BU strategic plan, providing a consistent structure to the plans done across Pfizer, 2) manage projects related to key strategic issues/business priorities for EM, and 3) provide insights into market and competitive signals that could impact business performance or strategic direction. From time to time, this role may also be called upon to lead important cross-BU Biopharma commercial strategic initiatives and/or specific Bold Moves.



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ Partner with the BU Global President, other BU leaders and/or corporate functions to develop business strategies at a global, and where appropriate, regional or local level.

+ Identify key strategic imperatives and capabilities required to achieve these imperatives.

+ Facilitate completion of multi-year commercial strategic plans, as well as implementation plans that enable robust execution of these strategies.

+ Support the annual BU operating plan process, as needed.

+ Lead or actively participate in a portfolio of projects that provide insight and direction for key strategic levers such as market development, customer needs assessment, patient segmentation, competitive advantage, market and/or product prioritization.

+ Actively analyze and translate impact of these levers into appropriate financial measures (e.g., revenue growth, margin, ROI, etc.).

+ Provide perspectives on the potential impact of external market and competitive signals that could impact future business performance.

+ Develop deep expertise in market dynamics in order to identify market trends and appropriately assess opportunities and guide strategic direction.

+ As needed, engage with category triads and/or corporate function leads to understand business needs and represent current status of opportunity evaluations.

+ Develop external relationships that provide outside-in perspectives on key aspects relevant to the EMBU.

+ Collaborate with other strategy leads to identify opportunities across Pfizer for alignment or synergies across strategic imperatives.

+ Actively participate in the Strategy & Consulting team, supporting Pfizer strategy through the perspective and experience of the organizations you support.

+ Lead and develop a team of colleagues, coaching and developing them to build capability and enhance performance.

+ Create an engaging and productive work environment where team members are encouraged and motivated to collaborate and excel in support of Pfizer's values.



**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.



+ 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Understands trends in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, aware of competitor strategies, knowledge of healthcare dynamics in key global markets and regions.

+ Understands key aspects of drug development and business development processes.

+ Ability to influence and persuade key stakeholders at all levels of the organization (ELT, BU Presidents, department leaders, and functional counterparts).

+ Must be able to influence and act as a trusted thought partner to senior commercial leaders.

+ Demonstration of strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to develop creative strategic frameworks, identify range of scenarios, resulting implications, and recommendations for direction or action.

+ Ability to understand and translate market and competitive dynamics into strategic implications for the BU.

+ Good understanding of finance and P&L implications of any strategy.

+ Ability to work with complex information and distill into a framework that helps facilitate decision making.

+ Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and lead with indirect authority.

+ Strong executive presence and communication/presentation skills sufficient to effectively address Global BU Leadership, ELT members, and external audiences.

+ Prior experience in consulting is preferred.

+ BA/BS - required, life sciences degree helpful.

+ MBA preferred.
