Brookfield Private Equity Group Brookfield Private Equity Group has 100+ investments professionals worldwide, managing over $60 billion of assets. We favor a focused approach to industries over an opportunistic one, with the view that protecting and enhancing our investment is best achieved through depth of experience that comes from managing similar businesses over multiple economic cycles. Investment size begins with the middle market with an eye towards larger cap opportunities; minimum equity investment is traditionally -$300 million. We put the needs of the organization, our people, and our investors ahead of our own and are committed to the development of our people through challenging work assignments and exposure to diverse businesses.The RoleReporting to the MD Business Operations who is accountable for active oversight of a group of Portfolio Companies of the Brookfield Private Equity Group, the Senior Vice President, Business Operations is an active member of the Business Operations team, addressing key issues, facilitating processes, and actively managing specific objectives to provide oversight to a Portfolio Company, or Companies.This role will actively engage and collaborate with a cross section of Portfolio Companies covering a broad range of industries to identify and deliver value creation while mitigating risks. You will develop strategies and actions to maximize profitability and deliver sustainable results aligned to the value creation plan established during due diligence. Candidate Profile* - 15 years of hands-on leadership experience in an operating company environment with a proven track record of success in creating shareholder value.* A minimum of 2 different roles or functional experiences that demonstrate an ability to learn, adapt and succeed.* Leadership of at least one key aspect of a significant (enterprise) operational turnaround or continuous improvement project * Experience managing projects, allocating resources, holding individuals accountable, removing obstacles, while communicating step by step to company leadership, employees, and shareholders * Adept at analysing and reducing unnecessary complexity in products, processes, and organizational structure to drive cost reduction and enhance margin.* Experience in industries both within and outside of Brookfield's core sectors of interest: preferred weighting for technology, healthcare, and business services backgrounds.* Prior P&L experience for a business unit* Experience analysing and interpreting financial statements. * Experience participating in Board-level discussions either as a director or through influencing roles.* Ability to develop and implement comprehensive operating strategies and tactics as the basis for optimizing performance, creating shareholder value, and achieving sustainable competitive advantage, spanning multiple teams and situations.* Demonstrated understanding of and having worked in situations involving operations improvement, including having managed through business crisis.* Demonstrated ability to influence change without resorting to doing the work directly.* Possesses strong communication skills enabling him/her to articulate business strategies and summarize business problems clearly and concisely for a variety of audiences.* Possesses managerial courage to have difficult conversations and take difficult decisions as and when needed.* Exhibits business maturity in interactions with C-suite level executives.* Comfortable in working environments that range from the plant floor to the corporate offices. * Willingness and ability to travel to portfolio companies, as required.* Must have the flexibility to spend significant periods of time within the portfolio businesses if required - e.g. in short, interim assignments and secondments* Strong external networkKey Accountabilities Our ideal candidate is strategically and organizationally savvy, financially astute, detail focused and demonstrates excellent business judgment. Direct and insightful in approach, s/he possesses the interpersonal skills to quickly gain the respect and support from the management teams and independent directors at the portfolio companies that the Brookfield Private Equity Group acquires.* Directly participates in the active oversight to portfolio companies of the Brookfield Private Equity Group, ensuring that operating and financial performance is maximized, and targeted investment returns are achieved:* Accountable for the financial and operational performance of the portfolio company, participates in the development and/or adjustment to the business strategy for each portfolio company.* Reviews and recommend for approval, the annual business planning processes, and the annual plans including all capital expenditures and five-year financial forecasts. * Review and recommend for approval all major capital allocation decisions.* Provides support in key strategic business areas including Commercial Production/Manufacturing Operations, Management Operating Systems (MOS), Sales & Operations Planning (SOP), and Procurement * Reviews IT operations, particularly IT enhancement projects* Pursues performance improvement initiatives and programs as appropriate.* Provides support regarding HR management systems, compensation and benefits, and succession planning.* Assist portfolio companies access resources within the broader Brookfield group.* Constantly thinking of ways to create value at portfolio companies; can influence change* Participates in the development and execution of exit strategies for each portfolio company either in the capital markets or through merger or sale transactions with strategic industry companies to realize optimum returns. * Participates in the development of monthly and quarterly internal update reports to Brookfield PE management regarding each business, comparing actual results against annual and long-term business plans. * Monitors portfolio company performance through participation at the board of directors level and management where required* Participates in the operational due diligence for specific Brookfield's Private Equity initiatives:* Provides input to the investment team lead regarding the due diligence workplan. * Performs operational reviews including site visits; validate operating cost and capital expenditure assumptions; identify value creation opportunities.* Participates in review of human resources and organizational development issues.* Develops business plans with the investment team, describing how value will be created from controllable factors.* Provides input into the Investment Committee Presentation* Contribute to the development of detailed onboarding work plans with input from the investment and corporate teams* Onboard New Investments:* Participates in establishing governance for portfolio companies through formal boards of directors for public companies or advisory boards for private companies; organize sub-committees, set terms of reference for each. * Manages to established standards and a cadence for communications and reporting* Implement compliance policies and programs using Brookfield standard modelFinalize human resource issues including organizational design and compensation mattersBrookfield Asset Management is committed to maintaining a Positive Work Environment that is safe and respectful; our shared success depends on it.
