Deputy Director, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Specialist The Deputy Director, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Specialist is a newly created position at UNICEF USA as part of the Digital Technology team. The organization has made an enterprise-wide commitment to using Salesforce Marketing Cloud as part of an overall transformation of its current digital ecosystem. Key drivers are to increase its current capabilities and simplify its challenging system architecture to propel fundraising, build education, create brand awareness, and drive public advocacy in order to deliver programs and aid that help children around the world. In support of that mission, the Deputy Director will act as the Marketing Cloud resident expert, ensuring that the new Marketing Cloud implementation is setup and configured correctly using best-in-class methods and according to the business rules and data structure representative of the organization. This includes how best to handle management of donors, supporters, club memberships, etc. as it relates to defining data required in Marketing Cloud vs existing BlackBaud CRM (BBCRM), leveraging subscriber keys and other unique constituent identifiers, email addresses, opt-ins and opt-outs, personalization and other key decisions that will affect the behavior of the system and the ability of Marketing Cloud to meet the business and legal needs of UNIFEC USA. It also will entail ensuring how financial donation transactions, order tracking of Trick-or-Treat boxes, etc. are handled within Salesforce or on another platform and which data is needed to be stored in Marketing Cloud. The Deputy Director, working with external implementation partners and with internal colleagues from departments across the organization, will be the lead internal resource for directing and potentially reviewing decisions to ensure Marketing Cloud has been positioned optimally for success. The Marketing Cloud Specialist will work hand-in-hand with the Digital Technology's Solutions Architect on decisions regarding right-sizing Marketing Cloud databases, archival strategies and solutions, and overall design of data inputs and outputs related to Marketing Cloud. Once the Marketing Cloud solution is in place, the Deputy Director will be involved in working with outside partners in the stand-up Email Studio, Social Studio, GA360 Connector, and Mobile Connect as part of the Phase 1 rollout. In this capacity, the Specialist will bring Marketing Cloud expertise to advise and consult business units leveraging these tools with the ability to maximize their use. Once Marketing Cloud toolsets are in place, the ongoing operational focus of the Specialist will be to ensure any daily jobs, requested configurations, or other system changes are performed accurately. In addition, as requests for enhancements or projects are received, the Specialist will be asked to help define business requirements, functional designs, technical designs (which can include data and flow mapping, journeys, prototyping, and configuration), testing, training and support procedures. While this is a technical role, it is one that equally requires the candidate to demonstrate that they can partner with business leadership to understand the organization's business drivers to better inform the technical decisions being made. Moreover, this role requires the ability to translate and explain technology in a way that senior management, business leaders, and constituents can easily understand. This role offers the right candidate the rare opportunity to help create a new digital platform product, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, from its infancy and build the most optimal business processes, configurations, and integrations to meet the needs of the organization. This position is critical to the success of the overall vision to change the entire digital ecosystem within the organization which is being counted on to drive additional digital revenue, engagement, and brand awareness. This visible role will be based in the New York City offices of UNICEF USA. Minimal travel will be required. Specific accountabilities will include:

  • Run the daily activities of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, which includes any configurations or file exchanges that must occur
  • Support the build-out of the organization's Digital capabilities, including running point as the internal Marketing Cloud Salesforce lead for the Digital Platform Transformation initiative
  • Oversee and provide input on how the new instance of Salesforce Marketing Cloud should be setup and configured from a data model, business process, and integration perspective
  • Partner with the leaders in Marketing, Engagement and Strategy, Global Programs, Fundraising and Operations to evangelize the Salesforce Marketing Cloud capabilities, as well as the benefits of establishing best in class principles and methods that avoid customization for each request
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to define needs that may be best leveraged by Salesforce or BBCRM, and to minimize custom code in either system.
  • Work in tandem with our external partners, as necessary, and with our Salesforce team and implementation partner during the Digital Transformation initiative roll-out.
  • Establish a good working relationship with the Data, BI, and Analytics Data team who are the owners of BBCRM. They will be a critical internal partner to ensure that we are leveraging each system in the most optimal way
  • Produce organization-wide reports or support report creation by the departments (e.g. open rate on an email send) and answer queries (e.g. # of constituents who have donated before, live in New York, and have family income greater than $150,000) on a given day for a given campaign from different constituents, and own all facets of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including management of licenses and access Required Qualifications include:
    • 3-5 years as a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Administrator
    • 3-5 years as a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Lead (strategy and business engagement)
    • Experience in troubleshooting, problem solving, and resolving issues that may arise in the Salesforce system
    • Track record of managing project activities independently and as part of a team
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
    • Experience in partnering with internal business partners to help define business requirements and come up with potential solutions
    • Clear understanding, knowledge, and optimal use of Marketing Cloud and an understanding of the database structure created
    • Demonstrated success in establishing best practices in the use of Salesforce based on an organization's internal needs
    • Support and/or lead of Salesforce within an organization
    • Experience in being part of a large, organization program
    • Track record of working as the key internal liaison with external 3 rd party agencies helping to deliver technology and digital solutions
    • Familiarity of using Jira or other ticketing systems to define and track work efforts
    • Trailhead training and badges earned
    • Direct experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud duties within an organization a must and in a non-profit a significant plus Educational requirements include:
      • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering
      • Additional certifications and training in data design, solutions architecture, and marketing a plus
