North America Trade Sales & Client Management - Director

Job Description:

The successful candidate will join the North American Corporate Trade Sales team which is based in any of the following regions New York, Chicago or California.

This is critical senior role within the NAM Trade Sales team tasked with the development and execution of sales strategy across a key customer segment, which covers 220+ clients and prospects. The individual covers clients working 20 different Relationship Managers and their respective clients and prospects.

The individual is focused on the origination of new Trade and Supply Chain clients and also increasing the cross sell trade business with existing clients within the segment. The individual will have a deep experience with many Core Trade Products (Letters of Credit, SBLCs), Trade Loans, Receivables & Payables Finance.

The successful candidate will inherit an existing deal and need to drive end to end deal management to convert into wins / execution. The successful candidate will be the senior Trade sales person on a portfolio of key regional customers and prospects and will be expected to grow the trade wallet and revenue in that portfolio.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead from the front in terms of helping the NA trade sales team close mandates and ramp the associated revenue as well as act as the lead client advocate for the Trade business in NA with Risk and the Trade product teams and the other Trade regional teams.

Responsibilities:
Determine and deliver the sales plan/pipeline goals of the business in conjunction with Product Heads
Develop and execute on a pipeline of client prospects, sufficient to provide required business growth
Manage key business drivers like calling plans, deal closure and execution, customer satisfaction, etc.
Establish relationships with key clients and business partners to identify new business opportunities
Monitor and understand customer needs, market and economic trends as well as business opportunities
Coordinate internally to drive timely and flawless execution of client mandates
Adopt and leverage new marketing strategies such as partnerships, conferences, advisory boards
Embed quality in client touch-points including proposals and presentations
Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm's reputation
Be familiar with and adhere to Citi's Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

This is a senior position within both the NA and Global management of the Trade group
Greater visibility and recognition from seniors within the Corporate Bank in both NA and at a global level
Understanding and first-hand experience of managing a diverse team across multiple industries

Measurements:

The successful candidate will be measured on a balanced scorecard basis against the following numerical criteria:

Validated and confirmed wins against North America based Corporates at the parent and subsidiary level
Growth in the key segment trade pipeline across the parent and subsidiary categories
Level of calling activity across a diverse corporate client base in the North American region as evidenced by call reports from the sales team
Revenue growth in the successful candidates own client portfolio.

Qualifications:
12+ years of experience, including 8+ years' managerial experience
The successful candidate must have and be able to command a high degree of credibility with the corporate banking coverage teams, Risk and the TTS solution sales teams.
Formulation and implementation of business strategy across all corporate customer segments.

Education:
Bachelor's/University degree, and managerial experience
