Job Description

General Purpose:

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

In this highly visible role, you'll support overall operations by ensuring timely, accurate, compliant, safe and cost effective processing of hazardous material shipments. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will:
Set daily production schedule and issue work orders to assigned staff, copying Operations Manager and General Manager at the start of shift. Monitor production throughout the shift, troubleshooting and resolving any issues as they arise.
Review scheduled inbound and outbound shipments. Create and assign work orders to staff including Quality Control Supervisor and Quality Control Technicians.
Hire, train, motivate, discipline and appraise assigned staff.
Responsible for adherence to assigned budget. Monitor costs on a regular basis and make adjust expenditures as needed.
Complete daily Waste Processing Log, noting any additional tasks accomplished during the shift.
Manage and control waste inventory. Prepare and submit weekly and monthly scanned inventory reports to Operations Manager and General Manager.
Maintain permit compliance and housekeeping standards in facility.
Prepare and submit regulatory inspection reports.
Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and THAs, both operational and safety.
Complete daily TSAs for each task with work crew. If new processes are created or processes are modified, create new SOPs and THAs and review these documents with staff prior to commencing operations.
Complete and submit work orders for any equipment or facility infrastructure in need of repairs to Operations Manager. Ensure execution of preventive maintenance of processing equipment, forklifts, pressure washer, pumps, filtration equipment, motors, hand tools and sampling equipment.
Ensure availability of operational processing items. Restock as needed to ensure continuation of operations.

Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
3+ years' experience in a supervisory role
Experience in the hazardous waste industry
Possess a 24-hour OSHA TSD certificate
Experience with DOT hazardous waste packaging, shipping and labeling

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Knowledge of waste treatment options and ability to meet compliance and safety while minimizing costs.
Experience managing budget including labor, transportation, materials, disposal and equipment
Willingness and ability to wear company provided personal protection equipment including eye protection, steel toed shoes, hard hat, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator
Ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers
Ability to follow directions or instructions
Ability to use a computer to communicate, create, and access information
Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, Power Point, Teams, and Outlook.
