We are hiring an Associate Director, Purchasing to serve as a key member of our leadership team. As Associate Director, you will be responsible for implementing the strategies, technologies, procedures, and measurements that create best value for, and support all, of the MSK Purchasing functions (including contract compliance, driving standardization, hosted catalog management, and exception management, as examples). Additionally, this position leads the Purchasing Team in execution. You will:

  • Oversees functions of the Purchasing Team, responsible for buying goods and services valued at more than 2B in annual spend. Develops and manages workflow processes and internal reporting structure to improve efficiency and increase productivity.
  • Develop strategies and implement solutions that improve supply chain efficiency, operational performance, and institutional cost savings/value enhancement.
  • Serve as senior leader on the Supply Chain team, playing a key role in our supply chain transformation.
  • Develop and drive the Supply Chain Organizations Procurement vision including acting as a key partner to divisional leaders with a focus on strategy, execution and implementation.
  • Partner with other Procurement functions throughout MSK and Finance to support them and enable the best value outcomes.
  • Lead, facilitate, and/or participate on committees focused on improving cost, control, speed, performance measurement, and reliability of the supply chain and related components.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with all departments on the purchase of goods and services for MSK that will ensure savings and standardization opportunities while delivering the highest quality products for patient care.
  • Develop and monitor operational, financial, and service quality metrics for the Purchasing department.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Informatics to facilitate and/or design functional business specifications for applications and implement and sustain system technologies that drive value opportunities across the enterprise.
  • Support technology updates, upgrades, and improvements through collaborative efforts with peer departments.
  • Look for opportunities to optimize processes using a systems, technology and automation lens. Evaluates new technology to support the Purchasing function.
  • Leverage industry benchmarking organizations to ensure MSK stays abreast of Purchasing best practices.
  • Partner with Compliance and Audit teams to mitigate risks and bring value to MSK. You have:
    • 7+ years of dynamic purchasing/procurement experience in supply chain, operations, or business management; healthcare exposure a plus
    • Experience mentoring or leading team members
    • Good analytical skills, financially savvy, and comfort to make informed data driven decisions
    • Lean Six Sigma or PMP (preferred); ability to drive high priority projects forward independently
    • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and navigating new technology, systems, and tools
