GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
The Senior Manager of AV and Media Services leads the planning and
delivery of technical production for digital media experiences,
educational and public programs, and live performances at The Met.
This position oversees the management and ongoing development of
media services, technologies, and equipment.
This position provides strategic leadership and comprehensive
oversight of the audio-visual and media services across programs
and live events that take place at the Museum, including in the
galleries, classrooms, conference rooms, auditoriums, and other
Museum spaces where AV and media services are required. Programs
and events include but are not limited to performances, symposia,
lectures, convenings, classes, meetings, museum-wide festivals, and
corporate and non-profit rentals.
The Senior Manager of AV and Media Services reports to the Chief
Digital Officer and supervises a team that includes managers,
full-time and part-time Union staff, and contracted service
providers when required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Management and leadership of AV media services and live event
production
Provide direct supervision to managers, and indirect supervision
for staff.
Recruit, train, and oversee live event technical staff and
managers, including technical managers and production managers.
Provide effective team leadership; hire, develop, and retain
talented staff.
Allocate resources and oversee a comprehensive scheduling process
to ensure media services are delivered for all Museum events,
programs, and activities.
Create technical production budgets and schedules for (1) live
events in auditorium and gallery/public spaces, (2) educational
programming, and (3) public programs.
Oversee media technologies, AV equipment, and live event production
gear used across The Met, including equipment inventory, technical
specifications, evaluation, replacement schedule, and
purchasing.
Work collaboratively across the Museum to ensure clear alignment on
goals and plans for programs and events that require AV and media
services.
Oversee technical support for public-facing AV equipment, including
routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and break fix.
Perform detailed budget planning for AV and media services on an
annual basis, in collaboration with the Chief Digital Officer and
Senior Manager of Admin and Ops.
Select, negotiate agreements with, and manage third-party vendors
and contractors that provide AV and media services to the
Museum.
Other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Fully vaccinated with an FDA or WHO authorized vaccine (or approved

Experience and Skills:
5+ years of experience with event media technologies and logistics,
and live event production.
At least 2 years of experience in a leadership/supervisory role
directly related to the management and delivery of AV and media
services for a variety of public-facing experiences, including
digital media experiences, educational and public programs, and
live performance.
Demonstrated ability to manage complicated schedules.
Ability to plan and implement multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to recommend opportunities to improve and enhance audience
engagement, through the use of AV and media services, to internal
and external clients
Collaborative mindset with very good verbal and written
communication skills.
Supportive management style including a positive mentorship
approach and a commitment to developing staff.
Experience managing unionized staff
Experience with, or interest in working with, performing arts and
art museums.
Experience with live events, including mixing, lighting, decking,
house sound, as well as multi-camera capture, broadcast mix, and
live streaming.
Knowledge and Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Broad knowledge of audio-visual and media technologies, software,
and equipment
Broad knowledge of stagecraft and live event technology, software,
and equipment
Knowledge of best practices in theatrical rigging and lighting,
staging, sound design, video projection, control systems (e.g.,
QLab), and digital recording equipment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional qualifications that are not required but would be
considered a plus:
Understanding of emerging industry trends and innovations.
