Job Description:
Summary
The Director of Sales is a highly visible leadership role that
collaborates with the President and CEO to develop strategies for
attaining growth plans. You will have three primary focus areas:
1.) build and lead a divisional sales team that is skilled in
qualifying and closing quick turn home remodeling projects, 2.)
ensure an exceptional customer experience and 3.) provide general
management of the assigned area of the business.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with President and CEO to develop and accomplish goals
and strategic plans.
Support the development, communication and implementation of
effective growth strategies and processes.
Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans
for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and
personnel designed to support the growth objectives of the
company.
Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes
internal and external.
Mentor direct reports to increase skills and the relationship
between each department in the company.
Provide direction and support to the Service Department to align
with the adopted mission and core values of the company.
Establish and maintain key performance indicators for management of
the operations group.
Establish behaviors, compensation, training, short and long term
goals for operations.
Additional duties may be developed and assigned.
Leadership Responsibilities
Develop an inspiring vision for the growth of assigned division and
the corresponding structure and plans to achieve targets, including
but not limited to screening and hiring high potential and high
performing team members who are committed to integrity and
excellence.
Inspire and provide direction, coaching and support to your team by
establishing annual, monthly and weekly goals with action plans for
sales representatives. Monitor and maintain KPIS to measure
progression.
Ensure the team has the tools and support for success, e.g.
development and maintenance of a structured sales presentation,
continuous training and role playing. Create and plan diverse,
engaging sales, design and product trainings for weekly sales
meetings.
Provide tailored, ongoing feedback and guidance, as well as formal
annual performance reviews to help team members develop and expand
their skills, while also achieving business goals and performance
targets.
Serve as a coach, mentor, and role model by providing a positive,
nurturing atmosphere which promotes team unity and respect, while
allowing individuals to showcase their unique talents and
encouraging each team member to learn from others. Celebrate
victories as a team and comfort each other's disappointments as a
team.
Develop incentive strategies to motivate and inspire team members
to achieve/exceed their objectives and drive sales growth.
Customer Experience
Proactively maintain a connection with our target customers' wants
and needs. Assess changes in the marketplace and adjust our
offerings as necessary.
Ensure outstanding service is delivered to all customers throughout
the full life cycle of the sale, including
job visits, phone conferences, multiple color renderings, white
glove service during job, shopping for and sometimes with, customer
for accessories/light fixtures, etc. Provide advanced negotiation
skill when necessary.
Swift and complete resolution of customer issues, including, but
not limited to stepping in to cover for a rep when circumstances
require.
General Management of Assigned Division
Develop sales strategies such as rebate programs or sale events,
implementing all the behind the scenes footwork to bring to
reality. Including but not limited to, calling vendors for
discounts, materials or giveaways, follow up emails, designing
marketing literature, generating supporting customer literature and
coupons if applicable, maintaining main spreadsheet to keep track
of purchasing during sale period to ensure proper discounts are
applied, training and role playing with team to put forth the most
successful sales campaign supporting each event, etc.
Maintain accurate and current pricing and ensure that reps are
always working with the most current
Maintain a working list of all vendors and their multipliers.
Attend yearly buying group meeting to seek out new products, gain
education in a variety of industry related areas and network with
others to achieve best practices or new ideas.
Partner with Marketing to freshen marketing campaigns, assisting
with wording and pictures for print, radio and banners, home shows,
home show display selection and orders.
Assist Service as a showroom point of contact so that customers who
have to reselect materials have someone knowledgeable of all our
materials
Assist Sales Support with calendar issues and rearranging
schedules.
Assist Purchasing with obtaining answers from salespeople who may
be unavailable or on the road. Keep them in the loop as to special
promos and new products.
Work alongside production to maintain communication as to products,
designs or materials that may not be suitable for production.
Working together for accurate pricing. Setting up trainings for
salespeople as to technical or construction aspects of the job.
Manage budgets and approve expenditures.
Attend management meetings. Project sales monthly and annually,
prepare spreadsheets to support and track goals.

manage the operations via KPIs
Technical skills: breadth and depth of expertise all aspects of
home remodeling or direct to consumder sales
Role model: selling with integrity, delivering a great customer
experience, resiliency, team work and high performance
Embraces technology: proficient in the use of tools to build
operational efficiency (netsuite, salesforce, 360, excel,
interet)
Experience
3-5+ years of successful sales management experience, ideally in
the home remodeling industry or other direct to consumer sales;
quick turn sales experience is a big plus.
Proven track record for achieving or exceeding quota.
Ability to build a sales team from the ground up.
Success in training, motivating and retaining talent.
