CHASI serves the most vulnerable individuals, families, and communities with critical services and programs. CHASI provides outreach, education, prevention, and direct support services for populations most affected by health disparities the poor and working poor, low income people with chronic illnesses, persons with criminal justice involvement, substance users, domestic violence survivors, people of color, and the LGBTQ community.POSITION SUMMARY:CHASIs Next Step Resource and Recovery Center hosts a number of services including peer-driven individual and group recovery services, counseling and case management, overdose prevention services, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented community outreach, education, and the Arise Training Institute. The Center is open 24 hours a day/7 days a week and provides opportunities for people in all stages and forms of recovery to deliver and attend individual and group support activities, initiate and conduct outreach and events celebrating recovery and reducing stigma associated with substance use.The Director of Clinical Recovery Services provides quality assurance, support, and guidance to ensure the highest quality of all peer led services and documentation for the Next Step Resource and Recovery Center. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Director reviews charts for accuracy and compliance, provides supervision and oversight to the counseling staff, clinical supervision for Sr. Peer Mentors / CASAC staff, facilitates skills-building groups for counselors, in addition to maintaining a client caseload for recovery support, family counseling, and referral management.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide clinical supervision and evaluation to staff counselors and CASAC-credentialed Sr. Peer Mentors clinical work with clients
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and determine appropriate level of care recommendations and referrals
  • Maintain a client caseload to provide ongoing recovery support and counseling
  • Maintain appropriate positive, professional relationships with staff, peers, participants, volunteers, and other stakeholders
  • Act as team leader for shift and support Senior Peer Mentors (recovery coaches) in their decision-making regarding service provision
  • Provides crisis intervention, de-escalation, and support to program participants as needed
  • Complete documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with reporting guidelines and quality standards
  • Review client charts for compliance and accuracy; providing education and guidance as needed
  • Serve as on-call counselor for overnight shifts (one to two weeks per month)
  • Attend/participate in trainings and workshops as required. Participate regularly in meetings, supervision, and case conferences with Next Step staff, CHASI management team, and community stakeholders
  • Align all activities with CHASIs mission, core values, and culture
  • Other duties as assignedRequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:
    • Required: Masters Degree in related field (psychology, mental health counseling, or social work); NYS licensure preferred
    • Strong assessment skills, service planning, and sound clinical judgment required
    • At least 4 years of experience working in the field of addiction and substance use disorders
    • At least 2 years of experience supervising staff
    • Demonstrated ability and/or commitment to working effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds with sensitivity to ethnic, cultural, and sexual minorities
    • Knowledgeable of harm reduction and trauma-informed practices, philosophy, and interventions
    • Excellent oral/written communication skills and strong organizational and computer skills necessary
    • Computer literate in word processing, email, and ability to navigate the internet
