The SMM will develop, maintain, and implement NYCEDC's social media strategy to increase brand awareness, engagements, and leads for the organization's projects and programs across several goals and key performance indicators. The SMM must have extensive experience creating and optimizing social media content, excellent editorial judgment, and the ability to capture NYCEDC's voice to reach new and established audiences. They must also have excellent storytelling skills and the ability to translate content into compelling and high-quality social media deliverables.The SMM must also possess strong interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally across various NYCEDC departments and project teams to identify and plan for organic and paid content and represent the organization's work across the five boroughs.This role reports to the Senior Vice President, Public Affairs.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for refining and executing NYCEDC's overall social media plan and strategy
  • Create and manage a strategic social media content calendar and publishing workflow (both paid and organic) for all platforms by collaborating across multiple functions
  • Create, curate, and manage the social media content for NYCEDC's suite of social media accounts, including affiliate accounts reaching various audiences (i.e., Brooklyn Army Terminal accounts, NYCEDC President & CEO account)
  • Work across Public Affairs and Marketing to ensure the social strategy is aligned with brand priorities
  • Develop and execute paid strategies across platforms to drive engagement and organizational goals, such as increased website traffic and increasing leads and respondents to company initiatives
  • Leverage existing social media and digital marketing activities as a tool for community engagement and reaching more New Yorkers than ever
  • Manage monthly and quarterly analytics report process, developing reports and providing insights and recommendations against KPI's
  • Monitor trends in the social media domain and make recommendations for incorporating relevant tools and channels into NYCEDC's ongoing marketing efforts
  • Lead social strategy development and provide social-related counsel for all the company's projects and programs
  • Monitor conversations on EDC projects across platforms, engaging when appropriate and working with various partners across the organization to address questions and comments when needed
  • Ensure brand consistency in copy through tone and voice
  • Manage Social Media Associate to develop social media content and execute paid campaigns
  • Other duties as assignedQualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • Minimum 5-7 years of digital marketing experience, specializing in social media
    • Experience managing a small team strongly preferred
    • Fluency in all major social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook) and skilled in utilizing and optimizing their features
    • Demonstrated understanding of social media platforms, their unique audiences, and how to use them to maximize brand awareness and lead generation and engagement efforts
    • Proven track record of successfully creating and executing online strategies and growing social media channels
    • In-depth knowledge and understanding of online community platforms and best practices, with a passion for staying current on communications, social and content marketing trends
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to quickly craft clear and timely messages, identify insights and build a narrative around those insights
    • Experience providing analysis on social media content performance and audience utilizing various platforms and tools such as Sprout Social, Google Analytics, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and Facebook Business Manager
    • Experience creating and managing paid campaigns across platforms, specifically Facebook Business Manager and LinkedIn
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and incoming requests
    • Capable of problem-solving, negotiation, and owning outcomes
    • Comfortable working with tight deadlines
    • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Suite, and/or similar graphics is a plus
    • Government or non-profit experience is a plus
    • New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire
