Job Description:
The Director of Visual Experience Design will ensure LP upholds
the highest caliber of design and design processes, lead the Visual
Experience Design department, and be a key voice of design
excellence within the studio. Discipline Directors at Local
Projects are responsible for the professional development of staff
members working within their discipline, as well as directing the
department. The Director of Visual Experience Design role includes
oversight of all Visual Experience Design team members, providing
guidance on their approach to narrative and interpretive design,
project workflows, research, presentation materials, and
organizational processes, to ensure best practices are followed by
all discipline members. Additionally, the Director of Visual
Experience Design works with Project Managers and Creative
Directors on project scopes and work plans as they pertain to
visual experience design and interdependencies with other
discipline workflows and milestones. To be considered, applicants

Supervisory Responsibilities/Duties:
- Directing, managing, nurturing, and mentoring designers
- Ensure best practices are met by team members, relating to
award-winning design, reference materials, file organization,
tools, templates, and a professional work ethic
- Escalate concerns as needed and work collaboratively with
Creative Directors and Project Managers to resolve these
concerns.
- Maintain oversight of the creative output of team members on
projects and provide design solutions and guidance as needed
- Manage team's growth and development via annual/semi-annual
reviews, weekly one-on-ones, professional roadmapping, job and
compensation adjustments, performance improvement plans, and
professional development opportunities
- Fulfill all department admin requirements related to staffing,
resourcing, PTO approvals and all/any other team admin support
- Maintain a pipeline of team candidates and freelancers, conduct
interviews and assess/manage hiring requirements, in coordination
with HR and others
- Oversee team resourcing, and set projects up for success by
assigning, where possible, team members based on skills and
development goals.
- Collaborate with the other Discipline Directors on best
practices studio-wide and bring concerns and solutions to the COO.

- Accomplished in establishing complex design systems for digital
and built environments
- Understanding of UX, GUI, and interaction design, and workflow
of time-based media
- Experienced in structuring and holding working sessions and
presentations
- Awareness of contemporary trends in technology, art, and
design
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop,
Illustrator
- Proficient in GSuite and Keynote
- Excellent typographic and design skills
- Experience with 3D or animation and motion graphics is a plus!

Education and Experience:
- A design degree (graphic, interaction, communication, media
design, or related field)
- Superior design and design direction skills exhibited in an
outstanding portfolio
- Minimum experience of 10+ years, of which at least 3+ in a
creative leadership role
- Demonstrated experience managing designers Additional

- The ability to travel within the US and globally for: project
installs, client meetings and new business pitches, etc.
