DescriptionCrain Communications is seeking an Associate Director, Growth Marketing to own the subscriber acquisition journey across the Crain portfolio of premium brands including Ad Age, Automotive News, Crain's City Brands, Global Polymer Group, Modern Healthcare, and Pensions & Investments.The Associate Director, Growth Marketing will play a critical role in bringing new, qualified audiences to our premium content, developing the cross-platform strategy and journey experience that increases the likelihood of prospects becoming engaged subscribers. The ideal candidate lives and breathes data and has a true "test and learn" mindset, gleaning insights from across the customer journey and applying them back to the core strategy.In this role you are a skilled cross-functional communicator who can effectively deliver plans, requirements and insights to key stakeholders at different levels and within varied functions. You are also a team leader with experience coaching and developing direct reports.Responsibilities -

  • Build the multi-channel funnel strategy for acquiring new customers across the Crain portfolio of brands, developing nurture journeys that warm prospects and lead to conversion
  • Manage the day-to-day relationship with the agency running our performance marketing efforts, owning the paid media plan and regularly consulting on performance optimizations
  • Manage the paid media budget, tracking spend across brands and platforms to ensure appropriate pacing and progress against our goals
  • Measure, benchmark and optimize marketing plans on an ongoing basis, leveraging performance-based insights to drive improvements
  • Develop holistic and robust testing strategy including offers, discounts, creative and audiences, - -taking into account research to ensure we are learning and applying insights across the journey
  • Monitor performance across various initiatives, channels, ad platforms and partners, ensuring they are optimized for ROI, ARPU and LTV
  • Apply segmentation, targeting, and personalization tactics to improve engagement and maximize results
  • Drive execution in collaboration with your team and business partners across brand marketing, agency, creative, marketing automation, operations and product to ensure production of a holistic and integrated journey for prospects
  • Partner with our digital experience team to develop onsite user journeys and testing plans to ensure we are constantly optimizing the experience to bring prospects through the funnel
  • Lead a team of marketers, delegating responsibilities and supporting their growth through identifying opportunities for upleveling as well as areas of ownershipBasic Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, business, communications, or related field
    • 7+ years in a growth or lifecycle marketing role
    • Experience developing and executing full funnel marketing strategies across both paid and owned channels including social, search, programmatic, email, on-site, ppc, and others
    • Experience leveraging customer segmentation and customer journeys to deliver personalization
    • Strong analytical skills to set measurable goals and evaluate program effectiveness
    • Deep understanding of optimization levers at different stages of the funnel
    • Experience developing testing agendas and activating A/B tests with measurable results
    • Familiarity with mar tech including ESPs (SailThru preferred), analytics tools (Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics) and hands-on experience with social platform paid media management including Meta, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat and TikTok.
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to effectively manage across multiple stakeholders in a matrixed organization

      • Experience with subscription productsThis position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.Pay Transparency Disclosure:The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 to $130,000.The final salary offering will take into account -a wide range of factors, including experience, accomplishments and location. The salary range provided should not be considered as a salary limit or cap.
