Intro/Program Description: Goddard Riverside is a well-established
Manhattan community-based agency with an annual operating budget of
approximately $ 50 million. Goddard Riverside is one of New York
City's leading human service organizations meeting the basic needs
of children, youth and families, homeless people, and older adults
across Manhattan and New York City.
#DegreesNYC is a data-informed collective impact movement co-led
with young people to achieve education equity in NYC. It grew out
of Goddard Riverside's Options Center. For over 30 years, Options
has supported young people and adults to complete college through
educational counseling, training school and community
professionals, and advocating on critical issues around equity in
post-secondary education. In 2016, staff at the Options Center
launched #DegreesNYC to address systemic barriers to racial and
income inequities in the education pipeline to and through college
and in 2020 #DegreesNYC launched its Youth Council. The goals of
#DegreesNYC is that 60% of each racial and income group in NYC will
have quality postsecondary credentials by 2030. #DegreesNYC
operates through a vast web of coordinated councils, task forces
and working groups.
Purpose of Position: #DegreesNYC is the primary driver of Goddard
Riverside's educational equity agenda. The Deputy Director of
#DegreesNYC works closely with the Director, the Steering Committee
and the Youth Council to set the vision, direction, and culture of
#DegreesNYC. Reporting to the Director of #DegreesNYC, the Deputy
Director of #DegreesNYC directly supervises the Youth Advocacy and
Research Coordinator, Youth Council Co-Coordinators, and the
Communications Coordinator. Key aspects of the job include
co-leading #DegreesNYC advocacy efforts at the city, state and
federal level, supporting the Youth Council, overseeing #DegreesNYC
communications and social media, taking a leadership role in
fundraising, and taking a leadership role in developing the culture
of #DegreesNYC. The Deputy Director supports the team to be the
best they can be. The Deputy Director of #DegreesNYC engages in the
field locally and nationally, as well as the larger Goddard
Riverside and Stanley Isaacs community, participating in Youth
Department and Innovation and Justice Department meetings, as well
as other Goddard-wide communities and events.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Salary: $69,644 - $87,055
