Job Description:

Business Development Manager (Hybrid Remote Work Schedule) Manages and oversees business development activities for the Distributed Generation platform of the company, including winning new business, supporting solar development efforts, and joint partnerships to develop, build, and operate solar projects. This position will be responsible for advancing new business growth, finding new channels, and maintaining consistency within the business development activities across the platform. The selected candidate will facilitate the early identification of accounts and manage opportunities through the financial closing and subsequent advancement steps to consistent with the company's business plan, policies, and practices.

  • Manage and oversee business development activities, including solar development efforts and joint partnerships to develop, build, and operate new projects
  • Develop lines of organic growth through agreements with technology providers, local partners, developers, investors, and other external parties
  • Achieve internal approval of decisions by produce internal documentation and coordinating activities with relevant parties
  • Support business development activities outside of the North American platform as required by the EDPR DG team
  • Provide technical, analytical, and strategic support to Associate Directors as needed during the contracting and development phases of distributed generation projects, mergers, acquisitions, and joint partnership transaction opportunities
  • Support the anticipation or identification of prospective markets with attractive potential for distributed generation solar development
  • Support the identification of prospective projects with suitable solar resources, commercial attractiveness, and access to the grid
  • Coordinate the review and update of the company's priority projects list on an ongoing basis with leadership team members
  • Monitor the overall profitability of the priority projects and target pipeline to confirm that projects' NPV is aligned with market conditions and company expectations
  • Coordinate with the Associate Directors to define business development contributions to platform's pipeline
  • Prepare, review, and oversee ongoing maintenance and upkeep of suitable sales/operational pipeline maturity to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate reporting for all regions in a consolidated report
  • Communicate effectively with team members and colleagues to ensure consistency in the development activities within the platform
  • Proactively propose continuous improvement initiatives and drive initiatives to completion.
  • Support development activities and manage the direct work of third-parties including engineering firms, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies to advance deals through the pipeline as required
  • Research market and competition on an ongoing basis to identify best practices and improvement opportunities
  • Conduct and manage all work in a timely fashion to ensure that critical deadlines are met
  • Mentor, guide, and teach junior team members and new staff on company practices

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field
    • Experience working with a variety of project and internal stakeholders (preferably in the energy industry), including financial investors, equipment manufacturers, wholesale electricity customers, and consultants; demonstrated success managing multi-disciplinary teams
    • 2 years of demonstrated transaction closing experience with complex business to business sales cycles for seven-figure transactions
    • Demonstrated foundational knowledge in distributed solar energy project development
    • Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred.Behavioral requirements:
