DirectorJob Summary:Under the direction of the Executive Director
of Financial Aid, the Associate Director implements best practices
and processes to provide essential financial aid and student
support services to prospective and current Barnard students. The
Associate Director assists in the administration and management of
the Office of Financial Aid; provides direct operational support to
the Director; ensures that all financial aid functions are being
performed efficiently, effectively and following all State and
Federal guidelines; and performs related work as required. He/she
will provide supervision of major project areas as determined by
the Executive Director, and will take a leadership role in staff
training, supervision, and professional development.Job
Description:Duties & Responsibilities:
- Administer federal, state and institutional financial aid
programs, follow policies and procedures
- Perform need analysis with an understanding of the principles
of federal methodology including : Evaluating and calculating
awards with a thorough knowledge of and adherence to Barnard's own
policies and procedures; Using professional judgment when
appropriate; Awarding institutional and federal grants, loans and
jobs; Estimating federal state and outside need-based grants and
loans
- Assist with projects such as processing return of Title IV
calculations, exit interviews, study abroad packaging, NY State TAP
awards, and processing of student loans. -
- Provide counsel to students and parents regarding Barnard
financial aid policies, procedures and awarding guidelines and
effectively communicate federal and state program eligibility.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all personal and financial
information given to the Office of Financial Aid
- Assist students and parents in understanding financing options
available through the Federal Direct lending Program including
Stafford and PLUS Loans. Determine eligibility for these programs
and process appropriate paperwork
- Review student records to ensure compliance with federal and
state standards regarding satisfactory academic progress and grade
point average requirements -
- Participate and represent the College at local, state and
national conferences and attend selected meetings. Represent the
Financial Aid Office on panels at Admissions Open House events,
orientation and other on/off-campus events. Work closely with
Admissions to provide information to staff, high school guidance
counselors, prospective students and their parents
- -Other related duties as assigned Skills, Qualifications &
Requirements: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal
skills
- Ability to work effectively with students and parents
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs
and their requirements
- Sensitivity to student needs and development
- Proficiency in Slate a plus Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience in
financial aidPreferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of PowerFAIDSSalary Range: $69,000-$74,000The salary
of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a
variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental
budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses,
specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the
College's good faith and reasonable estimate -of the range of
