After launching in retail in 2018, we have expanded our distribution rapidly and are now available in Mass, Food and Drug retailers all over the country. As we look towards the future, we are aiming to continue our expansion into creative distribution channels that will get quip into more households and spaces -- making oral care from your daily routine more simple, accessible, and enjoyable to everyone.
We are looking for an experienced Director of Business Development to investigate, negotiate and execute new business ventures. From partnerships with major corporations to gifting to new distribution channels -- the world is our oyster and we need you to tackle it!
This role will work within the Wholesale team, reporting into the VP of Wholesale, and partnering heavily with the Operations, Finance, and Marketing teams.

Base Salary: $160-$185,000 + Incentive
This range represents anticipated base salary range for this position, in addition to competitive benefits and equity (as applicable). We carefully assess and consider several factors with each candidate, including location, role-related knowledge, experience and skills. Compensation may vary based on these considerations.

  • Grow new business channels, owning every point of the process from pitch to negotiation to execution

    • Ownership of customer relationship (and broker relationship where appropriate)
    • Reporting and analytics internally and externally
    • Full P&L accountability for account(s) and new business "channel" as a whole

    • Own and manage new business relationships from an account management perspective, including ones that have been brought on board by predecessors; Account manage with excellence in order to grow these existing relationships
    • Work closely across functions to develop more cohesive and streamlined ways of working, particularly with operations and finance
    • Be the main point of contact for operations streamlining initiative; have a full understanding of internal ways of working that can accelerate (or hinder) business development initiative. Work on rectifying actions to set up for future success.
    • Opportunity to manage a team as accounts and business grows
    • Maintain a strong understanding of trends, competitive landscape and how they relate to quip's goals; Have a pulse on the industry landscape and always be chasing new opportunities
    • Be the source of truth for interdepartmental requests and on business questions for owned accounts
    • Be "on the hunt" for creative ways for quip to show up in retail, including new and unique channels


      • 10+ years of Business Development / Account management experience
      • Previously demonstrated experience in leading and/or building corporate Business Development or B2B
      • Proven track record of success in pitching and executing new business deals
      • Proven track record of managing, analyzing, and growing key accounts
      • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities in a fast-paced environment
      • Strong attention to detail with effective prioritization and organization skills
      • Ability to clearly articulate and present ideas both in written and oral presentations
      • Thrives in a fast-paced startup environment where self-direction and initiative are highly encouraged
      • Passionate, driven and eager to learn and grow
      • Possesses strong quantitative and problem-solving skills, innovative thinking and vision
      • Experience with syndicated data preferred
