Job Description Comunilife is looking for a seasoned Director of Development/Grant Writer with expertise in the housing and human services sectors. Comunilife has a long-standing history of commitment to addressing housing and behavioral health needs to underserved communities in New York City. Evidence of successful grants awards required.The Grant Writer/Director of Development serves as Comunilife's primary grant writer for foundation and corporate support. They will be responsible for increasing foundation and grant funding to ensure that Comunilife's programmatic and organizational targets are met as outlined in the organization's Strategic Plan. This position will be part of a growing Development and Communications Office which has the overall responsibility of carrying out the comprehensive fundraising and communication strategy. The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 a year. Essential Duties Include: Research potential funding organizations and identify possible grant opportunitiesPrepare compelling, effective and well-written grant proposals, correspondences and other documents for new and existing fundersRaise a minimum of $150,000 in new grant support in first yearWork closely with the Vice President of Development & Communications, as well as other important stakeholders to identify short and long term fundraising goals, objectives, and metrics and effective strategies to meet those goalsParticipate in regularly scheduled grant meetings to discuss updates, issues and recommendationsAssist in preparation of grant application budgetsHelp maintain a grants calendar that tracks pending, submitted, and upcoming proposals and required interim and final reportsAssist in the preparation of interim and final reports Secondary Responsibilities, as required: Database ManagementSupport communications and strategic advocacy needs including informing, drafting and editing of contentProvide back-up and support as requested by the Vice President of Development & CommunicationsRequirements: Bachelor's degree required5- 7 years of development or related experienceDemonstrated success in identifying new grant opportunities and writing winning grant proposalsExcellent research, written and verbal communication skillsExcellent editing and grant proposal writing skillsHighly organized, detail-oriented, and resourcefulComfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple deadlinesComfortable working independently and in collaboration with diverse personalities and work stylesFamiliarity with commonly used computer management systems, i.e. Microsoft Office, Salesforce, WordPress, Vertical ResponseProven ability to anticipate and manage requirements and competing deadlines, gather information, perform research, and resolve problems promptly to maximize efficiencyProven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion at all timesSpanish fluency a plus but not required Must submit cover letter, resume and writing sample. Working Conditions: 100% In-office work, with some travel to program sites throughout New York City.
