Job Title: Purchasing Manager - Perishable Food Products

As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a talented and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team.
Position Overview: As the Purchasing Manager for perishable food products, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of fresh and high-quality goods to meet our customer demands. You will be responsible for managing the procurement process, developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and implementing effective inventory management strategies. The successful candidate will have a strong background in perishable food purchasing, exceptional negotiation skills, and a passion for delivering top-notch products to our customers.
Responsibilities:


  • Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure a consistent and reliable supply of perishable food products while adhering to quality standards, cost considerations, and delivery timelines.
  • Identify and qualify potential suppliers, assess their capabilities, and negotiate favorable terms and contracts.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and continuously evaluate their performance to ensure quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as operations, sales, and quality assurance to understand product requirements and align procurement activities accordingly.
  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and regulatory requirements related to perishable food products to proactively address potential challenges or opportunities.
  • Implement effective inventory management practices to optimize stock levels, minimize waste, and manage product shelf life efficiently.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of suppliers, track key performance indicators, and implement improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and industry standards related to food safety, quality assurance, and sustainability.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A relevant combination of education and experience will also be considered.
    • Proven experience in purchasing and procurement within the perishable food industry, including knowledge of sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
    • Strong understanding of perishable food products, their characteristics, and quality parameters.
    • Excellent negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to drive favorable terms and pricing.
    • Proficiency in analyzing market trends, forecasting demand, and adapting procurement strategies accordingly.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and make data-driven decisions.
    • Familiarity with food safety regulations, quality control processes, and sustainability practices in the perishable food industry.
    • Proficient in using procurement software and tools.
    • Microsoft Excel skills with ability to work with Pivot tables
