Entrupy is seeking an engineering manager to lead a team responsible for our backend and infrastructure services. This is an onsite or hybrid role based out of our New York City headquarters. This role will report to our VP of Engineering.This role balances technical oversight and light contribution with people management and requires senior-level engineering experience. The team this role will be managing is currently staffed with 2 FTEs and 2 contractors. For projects involving contractors, this role will be the primary owner and responsible for architecting and reviewing work. Additionally, this role will serve as a technical contact for customer and internal-facing services.Some project areas this team is responsible for include:- Backend APIs for mobile clients and internal tools- Internal services for data processing- External-facing APIs for partners and enterprise customers- Internal services and interfaces for account management- Databases, caches and object stores- Analytics: data warehouse, data engineering pipelines, reporting, BI tools- AWS infrastructure operations and automationResponsibilities

• Acting as the people manager and functional manager for a small team of engineers
• Collaborating with senior management to define team goals and ensure alignment
• Coordinating and driving projects involving contractors or multiple engineers
• Contributing to engineering-wide administrative and organizational initiatives and process improvements
• Working with senior engineers to create and review architecture proposals
• Participating in code review and mentoring junior developers
• Acting as a point of contact for customer-facing APIs and internal services
• Creating direct technical contributions as necessary
• Building a team culture of trust and collaborationRequired
  • 2+ years of technical leadership, whether as an engineering manager, a tech lead or comparable role. This includes establishing vision, writing architecture documents and reviewing contributions from other engineers.
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer or comparable role
  • Strong proficiency with Python
  • Experience maintaining infrastructure on AWS or other cloud services
  • Experience with databases and cloud storage
  • Experience building and maintaining web APIsGood to have
    • Experience scaling engineering teams
    • Experience with project management
    • Experience with customer or public-facing technical roles
    • Prior history of working with contractors: writing specifications, overseeing work
    • Experience with cloud automation and DevOps tools (logging, CI, etc)
