This role will support a global team of more than 8,000 experts who are transforming the way the company uses technology to drive business success. The ideal candidate for this role will be:

    The Director, Colleague Communications, is responsible for driving a communications channel and vehicle strategy to inform and engage Technology colleagues on a global basis to build understanding of the Technology strategy to power growth for the company. This role sits within the company's Corporate Affairs & Communications organization. Reporting to the Vice President, Colleague Communications, this role will lead one Manager colleague, and will partner with the broader Technology Communications team and with leaders across the organization to execute a communications strategy to help keep Technology colleagues informed about and engaged in the organization's strategy, priorities, performance, and key initiatives.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Create a channel and vehicle strategy to support the Technology strategy, optimizing engagement by leveraging the company intranet, Slack, meetings/events, social media, feedback tools, and more.
    • Build a results-driven approach to message delivery, content management, and engagement.
    • Deploy innovative approaches and tactics to drive colleague engagement.
    • Develop and manage an editorial calendar aligned with business priorities, partnering across the Technology Communications team to populate and manage content.
    • Take a global approach to storytelling by partnering with the Corporate Communications team to drive the use of colleague-focused content in external social channels.
    • Plan and execute communications to support the annual internal hackathon, developers conference, and other colleague events.
    • Develop Technology Communications' measurement and data management practice and process to enhance the effectiveness of colleague communications.
    • Refresh the Technology organization's visual identity for communication channels and vehicles, in alignment with American Express brand guidelines.
    • Partner on and support the execution of colleague engagement communications and activities to support a culture of belonging and inclusion, plus continuous learning and development.
    • Provide planning and content development in support of the global Technology Leadership Summit, the organization's senior leadership meeting summit for 200 Vice Presidents and above.

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Minimum of 8 -10 years of experience in managing colleague communications programs within a corporate communications setting; experience working within an information technology organization or other technical environment is preferred.
      • Strategic and creative thinker with a proven track record of delivering high-impact internal communications, including development of messages, integrated communication channel strategies, strategic communications plans, innovative digital content, audience segmentation, and measurement approaches and metrics.
      • Superior writing and editing skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively across a variety of formats, tones, and audiences, including interpreting technical information into language that is understandable by and compelling to target audiences.
      • Experience producing creative engagement campaigns for a large global organization.
      • Expertise in developing content across multimedia formats, including video, podcasts, and infographics.
      • Strong knowledge of communications delivery platforms and measurement tools.
      • Proficiency in the use of MS Office products, especially Word, OneDrive, and PowerPoint, and ability to develop graphics and visuals to enhance the effectiveness of communications.
      • Strong knowledge of content management and employee experience platforms (Unily a plus).
      • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
      • Exceptional leadership and collaboration skills and an ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
      • Effective leadership with excellent judgment and people management skills.
      • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience required.

        Qualifications

        Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
