The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.This Operational Risk Consultant 5 (ORC5) is responsible for the independent oversight of front line operational risk management effectiveness of risk initiatives within the Wealth and Investment Management (WIM) business. This role is expected to engage with business and risk resources within the front line to influence and challenge risk management activities and decisions.This Consultant will utilize a broad understanding of the Wealth & Investment lines of business (LOBs) and--will be--considered a thought leader. They--will assist the business oversight leader with all matters pertaining to Operational Risk coverage and oversight.--In this capacity, this Consultant reviews and challenges significant Front Line operational risk program execution, including, but not limited to, business continuity, payments, external fraud, information risk management, safety and physical security, transaction processing and execution, third-party risk management, and various risk assessment policies and programs. The risk professional in this role will also develop detailed understanding of business strategy, the customer base, products and services, and other relevant industry issues, frameworks, and emerging risks.Specific responsibilities include:

  • Use subject matter expertise and industry knowledge to provide independent oversight and credible challenge to the LOBs' operational risk management activities
  • Support the WIM Operational Risk Business Oversight (ORBO) Leader(s) by coordinating operational risk oversight for risk initiatives and the performance of independent risk assessment of the front line, inclusive of emerging risks
  • Engage directly--with the front line Control Executive teams, Business Management, and Independent Risk teams to promote a strong operational risk culture
  • Actively engage in key risk governance routines inclusive of strategic planning sessions, governance forums, and business reviews
  • Oversee and challenge the WIM line across all operational risk routines including - plan, identify and assess, control and mitigate, test and validate, monitor and reportAs the Operational Risk Oversight and Program Coordination Leader for WIM, this ORC5--is responsible for coordinating across the Operational Risk Business Oversight (ORBO) team for WIM--to:
    • Establish a sustainable and detailed Operational Risk credible challenge calendar for each group based on the Strategic Planning and Administration coordinator calendar
    • Develop and sustain information sharing routines across the team and peer teams to support effective oversight
    • Coordinate overall calendar for all routines and activities completed within the team
    • Align resources across key WIM level forums and engagements
    • Deliver consistent WIM level messaging, leveraging business level inputsThis leader will primarily partner with internal, Corporate Risk stakeholders, but will have some engagement with senior management from all three lines of defense, as well as relevant regulatory agencies.--Key responsibilities include:
      • Partner with Strategic Planning and Administrator coordinator to understand their review, analysis, and challenge of Operational Risk Program and/or policy enhancements for potential conflicts and--alignment to other IRM activities, and share information with ORBO team to assess Front Line feasibility
      • Support the WIM Operational Risk Business Oversight Leaders by coordinating operational risk routines and activities
      • Develop and execute regular information sharing routines across ORBO team
      • Develop and orchestrate a sustainable credible challenge calendar across Operational Risk
      • Lead ORBO team to develop a calendar to orchestrate all routines and activities completed within the team
      • Coordinate ORBO routines and engagements with Risk Type Teams and Enterprise Control Activities
      • Compile Operational Risk updates and reporting as necessary for the WIM ORBO organizationLocation: preferred locations listed, however may consider other locations within the Eastern Time Zone.

        Required Qualifications
        • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

            • Meaningful knowledge across enterprise risk management framework, including: risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics, and governance
            • Strong understanding of Wealth and Investment Management processes, products, and customer interactions where they manifest risk
            • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the business and enterprise Risk function
            • Proven leadership to drive alignment across stakeholder groups
            • Demonstrated leadership ability that embodies the Wells Fargo Vision and Values and leadership competencies
            • Proven ability to proactively manage and resolve conflict and effectively defend decisions with objective rationale
            • Ability to navigate a complex, highly-matrixed organization
            • Experience communicating with senior-level management, regulators, and auditors
            • Ability to successfully review and challenge business operational risk management practices and outcomes

              Job Expectations
              • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
