residents of northern New Jersey. With over 700 physicians and

private, 32-bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby,
Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area and a recently expanded

We are currently looking for a RN Director of Perioperative
Services to assume day-to-day administrative management and
supervision of the various components of our perioperative
operations. The incumbent will plan, organize, direct, coordinate
and control the clinical and administrative activities, and be
accountable for the following duties:
--- Direct administrative and clinical leadership in the
perioperative service areas (OR/PACU Nursing, PPU, Anesthesiology,
Surgery, and Day surgery) in implementing policies and procedures
to achieve efficient workflow in the perioperative areas.
--- Act as a liaison between the various perioperative departments
to assist in troubleshooting and implementing solutions to various
professional, technical, and administrative issues that arise
relating to the operation of perioperative services.
--- Identify hospital-related issues and assure communication of
incidents to the Nursing Administrator on call, Administrator on
Call, Risk Management, Standards, and Public Relations as
--- Utilize TQM approach to problem identification and resolution;
communicate findings to appropriate department head and participate
in inter/intra-departmental corrective action process.
--- Serve as a professional role model and patient advocate.
--- Assure hospital safety by monitoring compliance with
departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance
programs, safety, environmental and infection control
--- Implement all national patient safety goals within Division and
associated policies and risk reduction procedures as applicable to
the scope of practice.
--- Collaborate with Nurse Managers and staffing office to identify
the number and level of personnel required to provide quality
patient care; initiates changes in personnel and assignments as
indicated according to census and acuity.
--- Collaborate in monitoring staffing patterns for immediate and
following shifts to provide quality patient care within designated
budgetary and acuity guidelines.
--- Establish clear and specific performance standards and
expectations for staff members.
--- Conduct frequent staff meetings to identify and resolve issues
related to staffing, utilization of hospital facilities, equipment,
and supplies; apply policies and procedures consistently for all
--- Develop and implement operating plans, programs, and procedures
to achieve perioperative goals and objectives.
--- Create and generate performance improvement (PI) projects for
Perioperative Services and the Department of Anesthesiology Other
duties as assigned.
--- Play a critical leadership role in the implementation of
strategic short-term and long-term initiatives.
--- Develop and track various metrics to evaluate performance and
efficiency in the perioperative areas.
--- Ensure the accountability of and adherence by designated
stakeholders to policies and procedures developed to achieve
perioperative goals and objectives.
--- Proactive in generating innovative strategies to improve
workflows that meet patient needs and regulatory requirements.
--- Demonstrate the ability to implement internal and external
disaster plans; directs emergencies as needed.
--- Graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing
with a BSN degree (Required). MSN preferred.
--- Experience as a Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant,
preferably in perioperative service areas.
--- Five years of nursing experience (Operating Room experience
preferred), with at least 2 years of current management
--- Functioning utilization of the principles of business and
personnel administration, management functions and support service
functions and ability to direct and supervise personnel.
--- A current NJ state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
--- Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the
American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire.
