We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Pacemaker Technician - NYU Langone Cardiovascular Medical Associates.

In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for the operation of and maintenance of the Pacemaker diagnostic equipment. Prepares reports for physicians to interpret the data retrieved from patient's devices and to assist in the treatment based on this information as directed by the physician.Job Responsibilities:


  • Keeps Documentation of all testing (which includes cut and pasting ECG strips, scanning into workflow, and transcribing test result into patient electronic file, assigning to daily MD to read and sign off). Performs remote device checks and involves PT downloading interrogations into secured websites set up by device manufactures, educating patients or PT representatives of this process. Print the testing and transcribing into PT electronic chart, assigning daily MD to read and sign off on testing.
  • Takes medical histories while preparing the patient for the monitoring session. Explains the procedure to the patient to alleviate any patient anxiety. Accurately records all information into the patient chart and reports any life threatening documentation to the physician. Follows up on all missed patient appointments. Maintenance of all Pacemaker clinic equipment and supplies (Cleaning, ordering supplies, programmer updates).
  • Schedules and call patients for phone checks. Records and prepares all patient tracings for physician interpretation. Prepares and submits billing once completed by physician. Maintains equipment and supplies. Maintains files routinely. Trans telephonic device checks (includes calling PTS@ assigned appointment times, explanation of procedure process to PT or PT representative).
  • Attends staff meetings as required. Maintains current certifications & continuing education in the field training. Follows all HIPPA regulations. Maintains census log of all device patients in office. Provides management of all needed follow-up appointments for the Pacemaker Clinic (includes setting appointments, reminder calls, and any communications for no-shownon-rescheduled canceled appointments). Manages any recalls by manufacturers of implantable devices listed by FDAor device manufacturers. Provides communication between device companies with new products, updates, any continuing educational seminars available to keep current, also annual CPR certification.
  • Follows the directives of physicians. Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time efficiently and effectively, while reacting calmly in emergency situations. Conducts chart preparation, data entry, transcribing, answering calls, filing, faxing, sending out mail as needed, and device tracking. Application, instruction of event and loop monitors as prescribed by Physicians, data entry, faxing of orders to monitoring centers.
  • Keeps daily monitor records for MD review, and reports any abnormalities. Final reports given to MD for interpretations. Provide prepost-OP care education instructions communicated to PTPT representatives for device implants, assisting MD with wound checks, cleaning of site, and wound dressing applications as needed. Clean and maintain all event and loop monitors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Maintain all QA assignments and send out any units which need repair. Complete interrogations, and interpretations of findings, reprogramming of devices if needed of all implantable cardiac devises (i.e. Pacemakers, AICDS, and implantable loops) as needed. Communication with MD's regarding findings on testing (Un-documentation arrhythmias, increased arrhythmias or symptoms, or device problems). Communication with referring PCP's, other Cardiologist, hospitals, or nursing facilities regarding device test findings, or patients device information.Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a High School or GED. Current NYS Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) Certification. Current NYS Electrocardiograms and Arrhythmias Certification. 1 - 2 years Medical assisting with clinical experience. 1 - 2 years Clinical and clerical experience in Cardiology setting for at least 1 year. . 1 - 2 years Trained in Electrophysiology testing and in Cardiac Implantable devices. . Excellent communication skills (both oral & written), interpersonal and organization skills. Ability to use several different pacemaker programs, including Pace Art program. Strong Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure.Preferred Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree Nursing.Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
