the current opportunity listed below. Position Summary:The Nurse
Practitioner is responsible for the comprehensive care,
coordination, and management of patients as defined within a
collaborative practice relationship with specified physician(s) at
the New York Proton Center. The Nurse Practitioner will uphold the
highest standards of radiation oncology clinical care through the
application of clinical training, knowledge, and experience to aid
in patient counseling, toxicity management, multidisciplinary
coordination, and prescriptive measures required for the successful
completion of treatment at NYPC. The Nurse Practitioner will
enhance the patient experience and provide the primary management
for the continued follow-up of patients through the post-treatment
period and into transition to survivorship.Duties and
Responsibilities:Works collaboratively with the attending physician
to identify, develop, and implement an appropriate plan of care
that maximizes individual patient/family preference and enhances
quality, access, and cost-effective outcomes.Performs complete
health history, physical examination and psychosocial assessment of
patients within the designated practice.Formulates the plan of
care, along with the attending physician, patient and family, based
on expected goals of care.Orders customary laboratory, radiological
and diagnostic studies, per practice protocols, differentiates
between normal/abnormal findings, and follows protocols for
abnormal findings, which may include directing additional work-up
or referring consulting physicians.Works collaboratively with
physicians, nurses and other disciplines in the development and
implementation of clinical care for patients receiving radiation
therapy and facilitates the continuity of care for patients across
the continuum of services.Plans and organizes care to meet
individual patient needs and ensure appropriate clinical resource
utilization per protocols, pathways, and other means.Manages
post-radiotherapy follow-up care and leads survivorship
clinicMaintains timely and appropriate chart documentation and
communication with family members, referring physicians, other
disciplines, and ancillary services.Participates in the development
and monitoring of patient outcomes per established practice
protocols for purposes of quality and performance
improvement.Participates in the development and revision of
interdisciplinary clinical standards and patient and family
education materials.Works collaboratively with the nursing staff
responsible for the patients' care and with nursing staff and
leadership to ensure timely communications.Evaluates treatment and
health care plans for effectiveness and modifies them, as
necessary, per clinical standards and practice protocols.Functions
as a respectful member of the health care team.Assists in the
preparation, implementation, and evaluation of research protocols,
when applicable.Serves as a clinical expert and resource for the
education of peers and other health care professionals.Uses
evidence-based health care literature to advise patients and to
support appropriate practice changes within the Center.Considers
needs and behaviors of specific patient age and cultural groups in
all patient care.Promotes own professional growth and development
in clinical and managerial role.Participates in designated
activities related to professional nursing standards and
regulations of relevant outside agencies.Remains current of new
trends and best practices and incorporates these into New York
Proton Center best practices and programs.Complies with all New
York Proton Center policies related to Privacy Rules established
under the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996
(HIPAA).Performs other job-related duties, as
assigned.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor's degree or equivalent,
required Master's or doctoral degree in a Nurse Practitioner
Program, required License and Certification:Certification in Basic
Life Support/CPR, requiredCurrent registration as a Professional
Nurse in New York, requiredCurrent registration as a Nurse
Practitioner in New York, requiredStrong analytical skills and
excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills,
requiredExperience in oncology, preferredPrior experience as a
nurse practitioner, preferredPrevious experience in radiation
