Job DescriptionEssential Job functions: Full Time Put away supplies, rotating stock so as to prevent expiration of product.Organize supplies for Satellites and bags them for courierTroubleshoot problem specimens to find resolution. Communicates outcome with office & Lab Staff.Answer the phone; take messages; obtain necessary information and gives response to caller.Readies specimens for placement onto analyzers, ensuring that the barcoded label is properly affixed to the specimen tubes.Utilize necessary computer applications to collect office collected specimens in the LIS, print labels and reference laboratory requisitions.Measures and pours off aliquot of 24 hr urine specimens. Ensures that specimens were collected in proper additive or that additive is added before specimen is sent for testing.Centrifuge specimens that are delivered to the lab after appropriate amount of time has elapsed for proper clotting.Discard aged specimens in appropriate disposal units.Organize prior days' work sheets & instrument print outs for storageRecognizes and performs duties which need to be performed, although not directly assigned that are within the scope of abilityMaintains centrifuge calibrations If working in the Pathology Department the Laboratory Assistant III will perform frozen section, ROSE cases, prepares slides for testing and immunohistochemical staining.
