Healing made personal.The IOM Manager reports to and provides support to the Director of Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Service by scheduling, monitoring and evaluating the work of IONM technical staff. The IOM Manager may be required to oversee IOM Trainees in OR setting, and also performs intraoperative monitoring for both simple and complex surgical procedures as necessary.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans and prioritizes steps to achieve uninterrupted patient care
  • Oversees compliance of staff to infection control policies
  • Provides feedback on daily staff performance
  • Keeps and reviews daily time and attendance records and coordinates meal breaks
  • Manages the daily scheduling. Ensures that all IOM reports are written in accordance with established protocols
  • Monitors hardware and software issues as they arise and collaborates with the equipment manufacturers to resolve these issues
  • In collaboration with the IOM Director, the Manager periodically reviews the policies and procedures of the IOM Service
  • Maintains inventory of all supplies and researches cost-effective alternatives to current supplies and vendors and makes recommendations in order to improve the supplies ordering process.
  • Oversees and verifies the accuracy of the database that includes all relevant information about monitored cases including date, surgeon, patient, hours of IOM, type of surgery, and results of monitoring.
  • Monitors the neurological aspects of the operative procedure and alerts surgeons of any changes outside of the normal nerve function.
  • Provides clear and timely communication with all OR personnel
  • Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Education
    • Bachelors degree in neuroscience, bioengineering or related field. Preferred: Advanced Degree in Life ScienceMinimum Related Experience
      • A minimum of three years of IOM experience.
